I was looking at a Popular Forum recently and came across some comments by the ASML CEO about the EUVL and China.
The ASML CEO claimed that China would be able to develop an Indigenous EUVL within 3 years.
Even the ASML CEO Peter Wennink believes this is possible in 3 years.

This is what Liberal Arts Prof. Lin Yifu of Peking University said at the forum on Future Development of Chinese Enterprises 2021.

The forum was jointly held by China Chamber of International Commerce and the National School of Development and Institute of New Structural Economics of Peking University on May 27, 2021.

According to him, ASML CEO Peter Wennink told him that he was very worried that if ASML did not sell EUV lithography systems to China now, China will soon master the technology within the next three years.

They will be then market these advanced machines to the rest of the world at very competitive prices, much lower than ASML's EUV lithography machines.
ASML is just systems integrator like Lenovo.... and TSMC is basically a VAR

@WTAN @foofy and @BoraTas Sir so they're investing in the most critical component and I think with Huawei experience they're focusing aside from wanting to do IDM the full vertical integration regarding SEMICONDUCTORS manufacturing equipment, processes and production. since they are the vanguard are leading the way, pinpointing the weakness in the system with academic and state support. And like @BoraTas had posted they had stirred up a hornet's nest and Huawei is fighting back with gusto...

Huawei Unit Invests in Lithography, Aims to Forge Complete Chip Industry Chain

Huawei is apparently stepping up its foray into the field of lithography machines, which are crucial in chip production, shortly after releasing its self-developed operating system HarmonyOS, further reflecting the Chinese telecom giant's goal to develop a complete industry chain to survive amid the US' crackdown.

Hubble Technology Investment, Huawei's fully owned subsidiary, recently invested 82 million yuan ($12.8 million) to become the seventh-largest stakeholder of Beijing RSLaser Opto-Electronics Technology Co, which focuses on light source system - one of three core technologies - of lithography machines.

Huawei's investment arm was established in April 2019 and has thus far invested in 28 semiconductor-related enterprises, including Epiworld International Co, NineCube, North Ocean Photonics and Zhonglan Electronic Technology Co.

The investment field covers analog chips, silicon carbide materials, power chips, artificial intelligence chips, automotive communication chips, and connectors, according to information from corporate data platform qcc.com.

"Huawei's move is mainly intended to offset loopholes and shortcomings caused by US restrictions, while supporting enterprises with high recognition to produce a higher level of products through investments. This is crucial for reducing China's reliance on certain countries and enterprises in the global semiconductor industry," Fu Liang, a veteran telecom industry analyst, told the Global Times on Sunday, noting that high-quality products can be adapted to other fields.

A source close to Huawei told the Global Times recently that Huawei has been forced to rely on domestic wafer foundries to fabricate 14- and 28-nanometer chips, as all manufacturers capable of fabricating 7-nm chips have been banned by the US from supplying Huawei.

"Huawei is actually investing in its strategic resources, which will have a significant impact on the company's development strategy, as it wants to make a big difference in lithography," Xiang Ligang, director-general of the Beijing-based Information Consumption Alliance, told the Global Times on Sunday.

The shortage of lithography machines is a big problem, as they are essential to the chip manufacturing process. Without these machines, Huawei's production and customer volume will be affected, Xiang said.

Analysts said that lithography machines are crucial to building the ecosystem of the chip industry, and RSLaser Opto-Electronics independently designed and developed the first domestic high-energy excimer laser, which broke the long-term monopoly of foreign manufacturers.

"Lithography machines and light sources determine the degree of precision of chips, but the global supply is still dominated by certain enterprises, so Huawei's investment in the lithography field aims to reduce its reliance on foreign companies," said Fu.

China actually has lithography machines, but the key problem is to solve issues related to developing light sources to achieve an upgrading in ultraviolet technology for the sake of making more refined chips, Xiang added.

Huawei is being fashioned into a Chinese spear to pierce and obliterate every singly Anglo industry specialty.
@hashtagpls bro, I'm a Huawei fan, I like their management, corporate culture and the fighting spirit and guidance of Ren Zhengfei, It follow a Eastern way of doing business which is built on a solid foundation, no frill, no hype but old fashion hard work, another company is BYD, Geely and Gree, all those company follow the same principle. Company that follow the American or western way may have a thriving business now but is built on a more shaky foundation. But thanks to Trump and the current US adversarial attitude there is a rethink and I must say the old Chinese style had a revival. It will influence the present and next generation of entrepreneurs, a more confident and nationalistic willing to accept the challenge and win. A Chinese saying " A little hardship and disappointment is good for you"...lol

Interesting; in that sense China does resemble Sparta in the Peloponnesian war: no nonsense, Spartan, no frills direct approach

China has a 150watts EUV prototype.

For DUV

6kHz 60W ArF is RS266
4kHz 40W KrF is RS244S
4kHz 40W ArF is RS244
4kHz 20W ArF is RS222
Is there any news on which ArF light source will be used with the SMEE and CETC production lithographs being developed? I am assuming it is the 60W ArF prototype but I am hoping there is further development on an as yet unannounced light source approaching 90W.

"Therefore, exporting DUV lithography machines to us is only to occupy China's market share faster, thus damaging the enthusiasm for research and development of domestic lithography machines."

Below is a link which is difficult to load in the browser, but which states pretty
clearly that ASML is only authorized to ship DUV to thwart litography development in China.

Hope one can load the link.

Any news on SMEE 28nm??? For me, the most successful Semicon company in China are CXMT AND YMTC. They produce DRAM and SSD at the same level as Micron, kioxia, and Sk Hynix at a shorter time.
