And folks, this is what makes Air Force Brat, the brat that he is. And I really appreciate and admire his bold and fearsome 'rhetorics'.
AFB's sheer bravado reminds me of the bravado of the Soviet-Russo Pilots or Sailors.
I, for one, just cannot imagine the Chinese armed forces of any branch having the guts or the bravado displayed by the so-called "dilapitaded" Navy or Air Force.
It is not just the technology nor the methodology that wins in a battlefield or warfare. It is the bravado, at times cockiness of the Individual warrior/soldier that wins or loses the battlefield.

That sounds so ridiculous. First, China isn't a charity. Second, there are plenty of things more worthy to buy: more used IL-76s, D-30KP engines, more AL-31FN engines, rocket engines, nuclear reactors. In fact, China did buy all those items that I just mentioned. You don't hear about them because they have already been sold with no need for further advertisement. There is a lot of noise associate with Su-35 because the plane is not selling.
you are wrong, the list you mentioned are considered outdated tech therefore Russians are more than happy to sell. In fact, they are pushing to sell more of them to China. They are hesitating on the SU35.
You got it backward.
Duh! the dude still promoting China to continue buy those outdated junks at current time.

It is about this post of Engineer and your reply. I think you miss-interpret his meaning IMO.

He is saying that buying AL-31FN for J-10, D-30KP for H-6K. These aircraft were designed many years ago to use these "outdated" engines, it is more cost-effective to continue the tested and well-integrated engines rather than swapping to WS-10 for J-10, or WS-18? for H-6K. The IL-76 buy is to fill the gap before Y-20's production ramp up which is NOT YET. Y-20 has to use D-30 before WS-20 is ready. This is current need.

So, even if you think they are "junk" which I don't agree, China need them, because we STILL do NOT have WS-20 ready NOW. These are facts.

Agreed. I notice that the Chinese pilots often lacks those qualities, probably due to their respect of the Russian pilots as friends.

and, I'll take that as a complement that I'm not worthy of, but thank you Yodello. For the record I have stated many times that the Russians are Master Showmen, they do indeed have "stones", scary to watch, but the old heads are very good!

The first time I saw Jimmy Franklin do an inverted flat spin in the old WACO, I thought this kid is gonna die! The Russians fly their military demonstrations in the Flanker in a similar manner, the SU-35 demonstrating OVT to effect in the post-stall regime make for an amazing airshow. They have had a fair share of incidents, as has anybody who pushes their aircraft into the "nether" regions of lift, thrust, and drag has.

I fly our old bird well within its operating envelope, but I do have a very good time! LOL

From whatever I've read and researched, the SU-35 is inferior to the Rafale, despite the SU-35 hype. The Meteor missiles are a huge bonus. Am I wrong?
