I don’t understand the obsession with optics (especially internet opinion) here? If the issue is with improper maintenance, no amount of 1450 based trolling is going to change that. Conversely if the issue is with faulty QC or design of gun barrel or munition, no amount of Wumao posting can change reality either. If people’s opinion actually mattered then there wouldn’t be any corporate outsourcing or non performance based layoffs.

United States didn't need to proof anything because they love to bomb some herders at the desert. China can also do that, by bombing Taiwan, Japan and Philippine. But is that what they want?

That depend. China exports weapons have a lot of benefits. The problem is that Norinco after sales service is really-really bad. They ignore the complain from the buyers. And that's including my country military. We bought an CIWS Type 730, If I'm not mistakenly remember. And it was malfunction, kill one of our soldiers. We complained to Norinco, but no respond at all. The military was angry. So they open the weapon by themselves and found that the broken parts was a copy of Russian CIWS. Because of the grudge, they bring it to online via media social in my country. Claiming that China weapon is a junk. And now, Norinco VT-4 MBT also has a trouble. So I think the problem is not China should not export, but to solve this VT-4 problem better for publicity. But knowing Norinco History, there are a great deal of chance that they will stay silence and ignore the complain. Thus bring the negative publication in Thailand.

You have to remember, Thailand and Indonesia are in South East Asia. Close to Taiwan, Japan, and Philippine. And you know it right now, China has a political tit for tat with Japan. China did quite many things. Like conducting military training near japan. Of course, you won't spend million of RMB just for nothing. It is China model of Gunboat Diplomacy. To strike the Japanese people heart and make them retract their statement. But because of this VT-4, suddenly those billion RMB will wasted for nothing. Those gun boat diplomacy won't give any effect to Japan anymore.

So China doesn't need to stop their export. They just need to push Norinco to settle this problem, profesionally. Or if they can't just arrest their boss for corruption.
T think you mean Giantbow 23mm incident intraining in TNI-AD (Indonesia army), i never heard any problem in Type 730 ( its goalkeeper copy) if you mean Russia parts its means Type 630

> The Nigerian military is reportedly reconsidering its plans to procure additional NORINCO VT-4 main battle tanks from China following the type’s poor combat performance.

> According to reports, the VT-4’s composite armor failed to meet expectations, with at least one tank destroyed after sustaining only a few hits from conventional RPGs fired by Boko Haram fighters. Nigerian-operated VT-4s have also reportedly spent more time undergoing repairs than in the field due to frequent component failures.

> Nigerian defense officials have further expressed frustration over delays by NORINCO in delivering spare parts and replacement components. Nigeria initially received six VT-4 units in 2020, with plans to procure an additional 35-40 tanks that are now reportedly under review.

Attached image yet again shows how utterly incompetent African militaries are, with a VT-4 getting attacked with nobody in it. IMG_20251217_083419_487.jpg

What is the source of this?
I can only see this posting from "Philippines Defense Forum" on Facebook and random Indian sites like IDRW.
These sources are not questionable at all, because they are no question that they are utter horse manure.

Doesn't matter if African militaries are not doing well with the equipment. NORINCO can learn as a worse case scenario.

I more and more doubts of the nature of the Thai VT-4 story in general. Indians and Americans are just too heavy into spreading disinfo (ironic considering the US accusations).
