Chinese Internal Politics

Regardless of who takes power, China will continue it's obligations towards Taiwan and defend it militarily from outside threats.

Internal unrest is not and has never been an valid excuse for foreign military threats. Dialogue, negotiation or military crackdown on ROC and other discontents is something China alone has the right to decide on.

For now, the central government wants to follow a policy of peaceful negotiation: bloodless, likely prosecutionless disarmament of anti govt forces and resumption of normal government rule within China.

I don't believe in a dove approach, but if the political experts do, I'll buy it until proven otherwise.

They are making preparations for a hawk approach/blood getting spilled though, so there's always plan B.

Copied from the World News thread:
"The Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPCSC) will convene for an emergency session today for, among other reasons, dealing with unspecified personnel matters

Might get some news on the Foreign Minister (removal, recommending new candidate for FM etc)

Note that the NPCSC dealing with personnel matters is not something unusual, but if something happened to the Foreign Minister, tomorrow would be an ideal time and place to deal with that officially"

Well, IMO high chance that this is about the FM

This might be the first time in at least a decade that an emergency session is scheduled just a day earlier

What are the rumours about him ?
There is everything. From extra-marital affair, to power play, to health issues

Not that it would be officially announced if its an extra-marital affair, but for sure it would add quite a bit of spiciness to Chinese politics if that was indeed the case.

Anyway, if Qin is removed its very likely that the official story would be about him having health issues
