I hope what you said is true overall. But based on my observations, I saw intense anti-China sentiment among some young Chinese who have money and education to cross the firewall. In the past, these same people supported CCP and defended China against western attacks in western social media like twitter and reddit. Now the same Chinese speakers are either gone and replaced by intense China haters or they have themselves changed their minds.

There used to be alot of pro-China and pro-CCP opinions on Chinese speaking reddit subs and twitter accounts. Now its overwhelmingly negative. i notice intense hate for China in these places, its like they would rather see China split into different countries just placate to the west and attain "peace" and "democracy". This change happened in just 1 year.
Are you aware that a big majority of Chinese who visit the US or cross the firewall immediately become little Maos lol

As for why Reddit/Twitter is overtly negative, have you considered that maybe their master has ordered them to purge pro-Chinese views.

Lol Reddit and twitter. Considering the amount of propaganda and disinformation against China you shouldn't take them seriously because they will lower your intelligence.

I am sorry but this has to be the dumbest comment I've read on this forum so far. So now comments on reddit and twitter are an accurate representation of educated middle class in China ? That is your evidence of supposed discontent with Xi and his policies ?

This is just one of the signs of discontent by young educated chinese. Last year there was the lying flat movement being popular in the media, then involution became another big term. Finally you had the zero Covid protest where some protested against CPP rule, something that is unthinkable before. You may say this is all conspiracy by the west but these thing do not happen out of nowhere. The real cause of these discontents are economic slowdown caused by Covid, tech collapse, property collapse and finally discontent against lockdowns.

Lets hope that China will achieve fast growth this year and this discontent will be over. But China needs achieve growth without falling into property and tech bubbles.

Only the hired protesters in Shanghai called for Xi to step down and there was 100 % Western involvement there. Nothing you have written suggests there is a widespread discontent amongs the young educated Chinese. If you want a real example of widespread discontent, look what is happening in France.

Some people were instructed and paid to protested, some were even complaining about not being paid enough. Of course in the end the number of protestors was tiny. What tech collapse? Slow down of growth in some tech companies or government punishing those who violate regulations is called collapse? All the while tech companies in key areas are enjoying high growth. What property collapse? Real-estate market slowly cooling due to government policies which are necessary for long term health of the market is considered collapse?

The general has never broken any law nor been credibly accused by anyone with international jurisdiction and that is the only factor for appointment that matters. We're after all a society where the people's chosen laws, not passion or the whims of foreign dictators, are the supreme rulers.
He is under sanctions, I think, because he was leader of the Chinese Air Force when China bought the Su-35 and S-400 from Russia. As if China should bow to US demands on questions concerning their own defense when the US blatantly continues selling arms to Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, etc.

Even some of mainland popular sites have been overrun by Taiwanese, Hong Kongers and small vocal mainland liberals. I don't think using social media to gauge the sentiment of mainland Chinese is meaningful as there is so much misinformation and resources that were invested to demonize inside and outside of mainland China. I am not saying there isn't grievances toward CPC's policies and governing. However, most of negative news and sentiment have been overblown and exaggerated.
