So perhaps the rumors that the WS-15 prototypes were already fitted onto the J-11 test bed were correct.

But the underlined part say something along the lines of having independently developed and built aircraft engines. Above says stuff about Long March 5 and the commissioned carrier.

Doesn't say anything about ws-15, I honestly think it's more about the WS-10

Well, the trick here is the award is given to the R & D team by the Central Committee of Chinese Communist Youth Legion, a relatively low rank institution in China's political hierarchy, and, in the meantime, WS-10 has entered into massive production, which means it is relatively mature and stable. If there were an award to be given to the R & D team for developing WS-10 now, then the award should be at the level of National Science and Technology Award, which is the highest S & T award in China, just as in the case of J-10. The project of J-10 was awarded a special prize of National S & T Award in 2006 after it proved reliable and mature. Sometime later, we should be able to see WS-10 project be awarded a special prize of National S & T Award. This is what award W-10 should win now.

When an award is issued by a relatively junior political institution in China, it means the project is still at its early stage and the junior political institution uses this award to encourage further development, especially if the project bears national significance in some ways. This fits WS-15 profile. .

To narrow the gap of guessing, the said engine would likely be fitted to

a) J20
b) Y20
c) J35(?)
d) XX-20 (whatever this means).

I just think that if it's talking about Long March 5 and the carrier, then the engine should be on same level of maturity. Maybe my Chinese just suck though =\.
