Why would Japan support India when cheap Indian dairy products will wipe out Japan's dairy industry?
China should just join the TPP as well since China has joined the Paris Agreement and the US has withdrawn from both the TPP and Paris Agreement. China's environmental standards are so high that India and the US will have a hard time following.
Cheap Indian Diary products?!
India is in a more precarious position than China regarding food security.
Unless there is some big industrialization and capital infusion, I don't think India's Agri business /Diary business will gain international competitiveness and pass regulatory approval regarding safety and standards.

I vaguely remember suggestions that the new NAFTA agreements prevent signatories from seeking free trade type agreements with China. Do you know whether that is factual and the agreement ratified?

If I recall correctly because Trump had that with Canada in mind so the US could back out of new NAFTA. I don't know the details.

Trump backed out of the Paris agreement and the whole thing fell apart. All countries have to agree.

Indian dairy is no match for Japan's dairy industry. Maybe Japan government is so confident that Japanese will not buy Indian dairy products at all no matter how cheap they are.

I think this a very problematic argument and is often used by Billionaires in US who refuse to pay higher taxes and threaten to leave with their wealth. But history has shown that none of this ever happens.
What I'm saying is that mobility should be seen in relative terms. A society is unequal if the middle class doubles their wealth but the super rich quadruples theirs. The super rich have exploited the system at the expense of the middle class. Eventually the middle class stops gaining wealth which is precisely what has happened to the American middle class. China should avoid going that route before its too late.

It happens. In the movie The Social Network, the guy that was a co-founder of Facebook that was screwed by Zuckerberg, The real life guy took his money and moved to Singapore to do that very thing. I've heard Singapore is where a lot rich people from around the world take their money and end up moving there.

It's not just about being cheap. Consumers of food in developed countries and societies are extremely health conscious and will therefore scrutinize much. It also makes them really bad at picking up a new /unknown brand.

Case in point - Evian in France. If you've tasted it,you won't go back.

The only way I think India can penetrate such markets is by being picked up by a foreign established company as a supplier.

India may try selling dairy to US first. Japan, SK and Europe is just a pipe dream for now.

Anybody remember when India use to brag at how many billionaires it had over China? India had billionaires but not a lot millionaires. That tells you there's a great disparity between rich and poor. It means only the few can be rich because they're the only ones that have the power to make all the money. China had more millionaires than billionaires than India and then more billionaires. When you have caste systems like India or class systems like Europe and Japan and South Korea, the same names are the only ones you hear getting rich generation after generation. The only places right now where you can start at the bottom and climb to the top are the US and China. You better believe that's also why you see no Googles or Facebooks coming out of Europe, Japan, and South Korea. They're stuck with the old ways of making money where it all branches out from the old guard making the decisions where to make money the old fashion way. No new blood allowed.

It says that only 5% of the rich actually move out . The reason being that you get so embedded in the culture of that society and most importantly understand the economic system of the place that made you a billionare. Both factors are lost when you shift to a new country.

YUP because they have flat tax regardless of income not sure now something like 15% The idea is to encourage people to stash money there and the government can use that money to invest! And rich people will buy overprice houses and overprice services smart eh. But since the government does not have revenue from Tax social service is bare bone That is why you see a lot of grand pa and grand ma still work in Spore In equal system bad! But good for expat
