I'm not sure how accurate this report is, but I'm getting really tired of long-winded Party Jargon and vague ideological talk, if the eventual objective is to crack down on harmful Business practices/exploitation, encourage income inequality and ensure future economic sustainability, ya know, the things people actually care about/understands then they should emphasise it as such and get the support of the people. It mostly sounds like it controls for control's sake or control for to better realign with states' long term plan(whatever it might be), again, while the Communist Party might be able to produce tangible governing result so far, its PR really is baffling and snore inducing.
I'm also having great doubt on the top-down approach, which almost always works worse than a bottom-up approach. If this is mishandled then it could have really negative consequences.
My rule of thumb is, if you don't have the whole story, don't speculate.
Like that time China removed the term limits for the presidency. At the time, I thought it was a bad idea, as it would disrupt the existing process of power transfer.
Turned out however, that the Presidency was largely a ceremonial position, and only it had a term limit. The positions with real power, General Secretary to the Party, or Chief Military Commander, did NOT have term limits.
So what Xi really did was to end the tradition of shadow power that started from Deng.
