The idea of more coordinated efforts to build up medical tourism industry could really take off big time. That goes doubly so for areas where China has clear differentiators, like accupressure, accupuncture and other aspects of TCM.
The Hainan free trade zone trial is quite interesting. They are already allowing visa free travel there from 59 different countries, which is attracting a lot of Russians.
I wonder if Hainan will be set up as China's Medical tourism destination also.

A lot of it comes down to marketing too. If Chinese medicine as a lifestyle can be more actively promoted for its preventive qualities, which I feel westerners still do not understand, the potential for growth is huge!
