China has a hard time setting up businesses in the US because of political prejudice. That's why there aren't a lot of actually Chinese businesses operating in the US. In TPP terms, China could sue the US for it and the US would have to compensate for all losses. That's one of the reasons why they don't want China a part of TPP. They don't count that when it comes to how friendly a country is to foreign businesses.
Hi AssassinsMace,

In all seriousness, they benefited both ways, THE WEST benefited on cheap labor, future market and profit, the Chinese on the other hand had employment, investment and tech. The problem for the US is that the student had bettered the teacher and they are scared of the prospect of China dominating them.

I think in TPP they want a collective action to force China to accept their terms, cause individually they can't because of the size of China economy. This will be the tactic that Biden administration will be using if he win the election, the Chinese answer is the DUAL CIRCULATION strategy.

Wouldn't RCEP, once signed also dramatically nullify the effects of TPP?

yeahh Trump basically due to his ego and jealousy to Obama ruined TPP ... but heyyy, thats great for China

RCEP is great and will be sign next month (Nov), not sure what the main reasons India opted out in 2019 ?
India said they don't like it because they have to compete with Australia on dairy products or something. Japan was going to back India up but now that Suga is in charge he's looking at RCEP as if a life preserver for the Japanese economy.

What's the point of writing this worthless article except trying to viciously attack China? And the accusations are boringly old?

In another word, if not trying to smear China, the whole article can be reduced to: China is a very large market, like, really really large.

How insightful and worthless!

How does TPP rein in China like they promote? China would have to be a member to follow the rules but the US is excluding China. Are they going to gang up and order members not buy things from China? But then China is most of TPP members' number one customer and then China won't buy from them. TPP members have to follow labor and environmental standards which means their costs rise. China not being a member means China doesn't have to follow those standards and Chinese products will beat theirs in price. Are they going to gang up again and not sell to China? And China, their biggest customer, won't buy from them... How does it rein-in China, again? It's a lot of bull they tell people in order to sell it.
