I also would like to know as well, but however given his ties to Trump and his general lack of brain cells, he is the one person other then Trump that I want to see suffer for the decades to come. The next two months are going to be fun for me to witness how the us decline is going to affect him. And if he gets the virus, even better for me since he is quite frankly that useless that a chalk can do better then him in leading
Pretty sure that it is just pure RACISM in terms that the western cultural and economic influence is wanning as non-western nations are rising. Growing up in the west, we just figure we were superior by default because we were "1st world" (this was pre-internet, western mass media held the world with their view) , but the internet age has shown that we are really nothing special. There are just as smart, creative, good-looking, etc people all around the world. It is similar to HKers looking down at mainlanders all the way till the 2010s when mainland way surpass HK in every field, hence the recent hk uprising/localism. There bubble of superiority has been crushed.

The problem is it won't be Morrison that suffers. It'll be the Australians at large. The OZ is going to be in a whole lot of pain from now on. No economy with over 30% of their export dependent on China is going to get away scotch free by poking your export market in the eye.

The funny thing is, in the old colonial empire days. The British, when seeing their supplies of raw materials threatened would just engineer a coup. We've seen this many time in Africa in the 1950s and 1960s.

So if China takes a leaf out of the British book. .......

I wouldn’t be surprised if that is what China has planned for him. If the USA is screwed over after the election, I wouldnt be surprised if he end up gone after the election since he is the most desperate to be in Trumpe good books but it is clear he knows he screwed up pandering to his racism and given China’s planning, he is set up for a very big fall and given what has happened to Malcom Turnbull for his stupidity It won’t be pretty. If China does end up becoming a true super power and the USA ends up being completely screwed economically speaking, Australia will be scrambling to fix this situation since Australia doesn’t have many true allies other than the USA. Without the USA, China can easily pick Australia apart with little problem and I am very sure that quite a number of neighboring nations wouldn’t mind Australia being taken down a few pegs (most of the South Pacific nations, even some south East Asian countries) because they are getting sick of Australia trying to poke there nose where they don’t belong. To be this is a positive since it will force Australia to be more humble and willing to try to think instead of pandering to the Anglo Saxon base like they always do. Again we have to see how the USA election goes since Australia’s future along with the 5eyes is tried to it. If the USA ends up in complete chaos, all of the 5eyes are quite frankly screwed and will abandon ship to avoid the wrath of China and Russia and any other country that wants a crack at them (there is quite a large list). Scott Morrison future is also tied to the job market and if the nation end up protesting, he will also go down if he cannot deliver (considering his general lack of skill, he most certainly will fail)

Morrison digging a grave for Australia
By yielding to US pressure to antagonize China, Australia risks being buried alive

I can’t remember the movie’s name. It was about 30 years ago that I saw it, and I don’t remember the names of the actors, the director or the writer. To be honest, I don’t even remember the trajectory of the plot.

But I do remember one scene from that Hollywood film vividly, and I still find it frightening whenever that memory pops up in my mind.

In the scene, a soldier of the war’s victorious side forced a counterpart of the defeated side to dig a grave. After the grave was dug by the enemy soldier, the commander ordered his troops to bury him alive, in the pit he had dug himself.

That horrifying scene is an analogy of what I see today in Asia-Pacific geo-strategy, with one critical difference: In the film, the man buried alive was the enemy. But in real life at this moment, the grave is being dug at the behest of a friend and ally.

In this modern scene, the gravedigger is Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, and it is his own country that is to be buried alive.

The main problem with Morrison and his gang is not racism. It is a combination of pride, arrogant and ignorance. They open their mouths with megaphone regarding China with no worries of its consequences. Diplomacy had died since Malcolm Turnbull. They are trying to ring China now but calls remain unanswered with Australia remains stubborn and maintain its high ground.
This situation will continues until both sides
acknowledged their differences and respect diplomacy.

I guess China is just waiting for this idiot to leave office before they bother to talk and just like with HK, can expect better results the later the act, when the people suffered enough of the consequences to see reason and also to understand throughly just how worthless they are to the USA in the grand scheme of things. People are walking up to how the USA isn’t worth it any more, now the people need to walk up to see how China is the only nation willing to invest in them and Scot Morison blew it. If he fails the younger generation like Trump is doing in the USA, his time will come soon. Only this time, I hope they pay dearly. The bastard is a useless Trump lover and if he was to depart from this world for good, I’d say good riddance since he is that useless. I guess it is good for him to witness the downfall of the USA now so that Australia can get a good look at what this white exceptionalism will bring to a nation if they don’t smarten up

It seems that china will have to go for another infrastructure spending boom (more bridges to nowhere, IMO) in order to stimulate the economy, because the chinese consumer doesnt have the ability to do it.

If so, this is what happens when you have an export and debt driven economy.

Don't flatter yourself. China has plenty of alternative supplies. In a capitalist world. The commodity will follow the money.

In any case, China has not target iron ore yet. Since they are plenty of other viable targets to go for first.

Yeah, I suspect they are trying not to impact the Chinese in Australia while trying to find ways to maximize the damage to the government first with no need for violence given that Australia isn't worth using a DF on even though the option is always there.

You wish. Pull the trigger, Australia. The Australian economy would collapse far faster and China would find another source. It's as simple to say as that because if Australia was in control of China's fate, they would've already pulled the trigger.
