This will be a win for Kazakhstan, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China, and China's One Belt One Road (OBOR) Initiative if China goes ahead with setting tariff on Australian barley. In 2018, China approved import of barley and corn from Kazakhstan to diversify her imports.

Better to buy from friends.

only now? I can't believe this was not done like a decade ago

Trade relation is only possible because it is build atop mutual respect for each other's sovereign integrity. If one party blatantly disrespect the other's sovereign integrity, then the foundational basis upon which trade relation can be healthily build will no longer exist.

So i am confused with the behavour of OZ and NZ, on one hand they poked and dont seems bothered to have mutal respect with China, yet they demand China to remaim commited to giving their nation enormously imbalanced economic gains. Do they does this knowingly? Or are they not aware of the situatiom objectively? Is the One China policy merely a piece of excuse card for them to remain leeching off China for growth while retaining the rights to continue stepping down on China?

There are some people I hear on talk back radio suggesting that because of dairy products, China needs NZ rather than NZ needing China. I got on the phone and answered in the reverse, and as a result I got a banning from the host. I guess I have been classified as a radio talkback troll . A little while ago a forum member from Australia said, that China was seen by many as a threat by many, to which I might add so some people in NZ.

This has been going on for a decade now. It has just been low-key and ignored by non-Chinese media. Trade within OBOR countries and with developing countries including Africa and S. American has been growing steadily. Trade diversification is a process and does not happen overnight.

The shift from west to the east for the center of gravity for world trade and geopolitics is an irreversible trend of our time. The west(esp US) is painful learning that they are no longer the centre of the world.

I think China trades with Australia and NZ because unlike central Asia and Africa they are stable countries and they can provide staging posts to the antarctic.
I read for iron ore, china trade with Aus cuz of distance and quality of it. China also get it from Brazil but it's further so will cost more.

The new apartments come in models of 50, 75 and 100 square meters, which will be assigned depending on the number of people in the household, said Ahke Jiushe. One person is entitled to 25 sq m, he said.
The cost to own the apartments is 2,500 yuan per person-a family of four would pay 10,000 yuan to own an apartment of 100 square meters. The market price per square meter of housing in the county seat ranges from 3,000 to 6,000 yuan, he added.

The villagers are benefiting from the government's tailored poverty relief policies.
Three years ago, the village caught the attention of President Xi Jinping. In a discussion with National People's Congress deputies from Sichuan in 2017, he said he had been worried when he learned from a television report that the Atuleer villagers were dependent on the rattan structure.

Xi told the deputies the entire process of poverty reduction required tailored relief policies and precision measures, and sometimes patience and accuracy such as "doing embroidery".

After the village became famous, tourists flocked to see the rattan ladders, and some tried to climb them.
After the 84 households move, Atuleer will see new tourism development. A cable car will be installed to transport tourists to the village and nearby canyons will be developed, the county government said.
Some 30 better-off households will remain in the village and work in the tourist industry, running rural inns, showing tourists around and carrying bags to make money, Ahke said.

Now if they hollow out that mountain and build a modern city inside, like the Dwarf Kingdom Erebor in Lord of the Rings, then I'd be really impressed.
