Lol.

This guy has very bad reputation among the Chinese military enthusiasts.

...................

This is why I like the net. You'll never know when you'll come across a gem like this.
Hey China, sack that guy now & get a guy approved by 'the Chinese military enthusiasts' aka internet fanboys.
You'll be flying J200 in no time, forget about J20 already. :)

The evidence shows quite contrary.

consider that...

from 1955-2011, of all past and present members China Academy of Sciences

the top 5 provincial origins are .

Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Hunan. all these provinces are consider southern china.

Jiangsu and Zhejiang each produced about 200+ members.

Shanghai, the city that never broke 10 million size mark until 90s, has 41. more than Liaoning the industry power house which produced a paltry 17...

same thing on China Academy of engineering.

Top two again are Jiangsu and Zhejiang.

Since when did evidence have anything to do with prejudice and ersatz generalisations?

China's C919 large airplane schedule to take first flight in 2015

The first test-flight C919 plane will enter the final assembly phase in 2014, and is expected to make its maiden flight in 2015, said Tian Min, chief accountant of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China undertaking the development of Chinese large passenger aircrafts, at the Singapore Airplane Exhibition on Sep. 12.

Tian Min said that the Final Assembly Manufacture Center of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China is building a base specializing in the final assembly of C919 airplanes. After its completion, the base will reach an annual capacity of 150 C919 large passenger airplanes and 50 ARJ21 new regional aircrafts.

The C919 is the first 150-seat large passenger aircraft with Chinese independent intellectual property rights. It has been designed and developed in strict accordance with international standards. It can meet airlines' operating demands for different routes. So far, orders of C919 airplanes have been obtained from 16 Chinese and overseas customers.

Southern Chinese is never known to be well known when comes to engineering.

I respectfully disagree with you. There are good engineers among the Southern Chinese and there are bad engineers among Northern Chinese... (PS. One person name came into my mind... Qian Xuesen, he is born in zhejiang province...)

Just because there is a joker in the rank doesn't warrant that generalization of the Southern and Northern Chinese population. By the way... I have seen excellent Chinese engineers from all parts of China during my working trips to China Shenzhen and Guangzhou...

A news report is indicating that the Chinese are planning to purchase 100 Sukhoi SSJ100 jets with a plan to assemble them in China:

Chinese firm Henan Oberoi Aircraft has placed an order with Russian aircraft manufacturer Sukhoi for 100 SSJ-100 aircraft — also known as the Sukhoi Superjet 100 — with the two firms also agreeing to build an assembly line in Zhengzhou in central China's Henan province, reports Shanghai's China Business News.

The two companies alongside the China Taly Aviation Technologies Corp and Shanghai Flying Dream General Aviation signed a memorandum of understanding under which Oberoi is set to buy 100 planes from Sukhoi.

In the meantime, Sukhoi and Oberoi plan to jointly build a delivery center and assembly line for the SSJ-100 in Zhengzhou, which is expected to become the third city nationwide to have an assembly line with the capacity for producing 100 aircraft, following Tianjin and Shanghai.

Could mean the death knell for the ARJ-21...

Could mean the death knell for the ARJ-21...

This is a report from china daily. It mentions that there are reservations about this deal, including necessary aproval from the state government, uncertain because the city doesnt have the necessary resources for it. Also, there is competition from ARJ-21.

Why buy Sukhoi when China can buy Boeing or Airbus? It could be a conditional part of a larger deal for something else China wants.

Boeing and Airbus both State funded do a degree, so attempts at buys form them would be demanded to be built in Washington (state) and France.
Sukhoi is still a newbee in the commercial liner industry. and likely to jump at help in it's industrial base.
The Boeing 737 NG rings up a price tag of $74 million and that is the small version 737-700
the Next version of the 737 is the 737MAX which is under development it's entry level would be the 737-7 opening bid? $85 million.
A318 chocks up a price tag of $70 million
SuperJet 100? $34 million cha-ching
Those are in Us dollars. So the Price is right.
B737NG first flight was 1997 Max is projected into 2017?
A318 was 2002
super jet 2008 so it's still a very new branding.
