LOL the "Tank Biathlons" are a joke of a competition to begin with.

A championship that is serious about fairness and rules won't allow any country to use a different tank.

In all fairness, their old pal Belarus does get to bring modified T-72's with greater horsepower that have pretty good acceleration.

China was apparently told by Russia that we can bring Type 15 main battle tanks solely under the condition 125mm guns are installed on them.

Yankeesama was invited to a celebratory event for this year's tank biathlon participants due to his outstanding livestream coverage of the competition.

Good. I hope 125mm guns are installed on the ZTQ-15, especially if it is the improved ZPT-98. Unfortunately, it would be difficult to modify the autoloader such that it is compatible with any 125mm gun. Size constraints are a major factor too.

An interesting video summarising the results of actual combat between T72A/B of South Sudan against Type85s of Sudan.

Basically in a direct head-to-head, the Type85 did a 4-0 whitewash against the T72.

Obviously the T72A/B is an early and long obsolete version of the T72, but the same could be said of the Type85 compared to the latest Type96B, so I think it’s a somewhat fair matchup, and not at all surprisingly result given what we have seen from Tank Biathlon shooting stage results.

I don’t remember this engagement being posted here, so wanted to share that and also see if anyone has any more information on the engagement?

The source linked says they were old base model T72s from Ukraine, not T72As, which are 70s era tanks. Type 85-IIMs started production in 1990 so I would expect the Type 85 to win but that probably means not much when comparing the newest models.
