Just curious, anybody knows what are the current estimates for numbers of 96, 96A and 96B?

is there any potential programme lined up to upgrade the 96 and 96A to 96B standard?

It is unlikely that they will receive an upgrade.

The old 96s have been in use for a long time and have very little life left, and upgrading them is not very cost effective.

96-A will probably only get the 96-B turret because there are so many improvements to the body: power pack, power drive, etc, that it's basically no different than building a new body.

Turret is prob most expensive part of a tank though.

I don't think type 96B is in production. They only made a few units for the annual Army Games in Russia.
Yep, and I wonder what they will do with basic 96 which I heard must be replaced soon because they are worn a lot. I am not sure 96A and 96B should be made in 2022, this tank is just not good enough for recent times to procure them brand new.

99A has been produced in such large number that I think they can serve as the main tank now. With economy size of China 99A is not even expensive. They should be able to sustain 2000 of them easy along with 96A. Everything lower is not worth it.
