What's the point of this video? It's just a silly, pointless animation set to the Chinese national anthem, which by the way, was played by the New Japan Philaharmonic and played with an extra wrong note. This is far below the standards of SDF.

The video was in reply to xiabonan who stated that " love the look of the LM5. In my eyes it's hands down one of the most elegant looking rockets of all times. "... So I decided to share a 3D model I made with him in video, and as you can see, at least two others have stamped and liked it...

Between this and the Ask a Question thread, why are you intentionally going after me, bullying and persecuting me for no reason? Did I ever do anything to you to rub you the wrong way? Nope, I never interacted with you at all.

Use the reply button if you are replying or responding to someone's post. Otherwise, you are making it difficult for others to follow what you mean. And someone giving your post likes is completely irrelevant to my point.

And no, I'm not picking on you. I'm merely asking you to make some changes to the way you post so that the thread is easy to follow.

Sure, I'll use the reply. But I would think any reasonable person would have inferred from the juxtaposition and the context that it was in response to the remark posted directly above... it wasn't like it was buried through 10 different pages of posts.

Why? You do realize that this is a public thread open to posting by all members, right? In other words, this isn't a private chat between two individuals, where their conversation is easy to follow.

Suppose before you replied to xiabonan's post, other members had posted something, so that your reply to xiabonan is pushed further down. How then are we supposed to know that your post was even a reply? If you notice, the vast majority of stand-alone posts here at SDF are not responses to posts immediately preceding them. The default assumption is that if your post doesn't contain a quote of a previous post, then your post is a stand-alone one.

Does anyone have the planned launch date and time? I've found two launch dates: July 23 @ Noon or 16:56 (all UTC +8). I'm still looking for the UAE's launch date and time but no go. AFAIK, the US's Mars 2020 have not changed.

There is a chance that the launch might be in August so everything boils down to weather.

Just wondering with NASA and UAE ( didn't know that UAE has such capability! ) planning to go on a MARS mission in the same time frame, would that put pressure on China to launch before them? Anyway, LM5 is a new rocket, I hope China will do it right, not do it quick.
Nevertheless I am happy to see friendly competition among nations towards this MARS exploration endeavors.

The Chinese program needs to be done ASAP because the learning process needs to begin ASAP. It's not about getting it right and not doing it quick. Chances are the first Mars mission is a failure just going by history and landing attempts, of which only the Americans are undisputed superstars at building successful landers. The sooner you start, the sooner you can work out where and what went wrong. Now I'm not saying things must and will go wrong but that's a core part of the program consideration and how the engineers specifically designed this mission.

The UAE mission has already launched I think. It's an orbiter and launched using a Japanese rocket. Still a very ambitious and impressive feat from a collection of Emirate collaborators. The American and Chinese missions are orbiter scouting for suitable landing zone and what to study, lander, and rover. China's never done this on Mars before and the lunar missions were done in smaller steps. This is a totally new endeavor and using an relatively still unproven rocket. One that's also never held such a complex, large, and heavy payload before. But every journey starts with a step and the first ones usually send you to the ground so if they got all the payload material all working, they may as well test everything together.

For an expedition to Mars, a launch window is available every 2 years + or so. Therefore, all expedition is planned around July. Doubtful there would be any pressure.
