@Oldschool Sir its a given since its a war? the question is can the American hold it? Sir like I said SCS is a Chinese lake, they had what we called a Preponderance domination. Whatever quality the US equipment had those American bases will be under attack and the question of resupply persist and Sir if war do happen it will short cause it will lead to a Nuclear War.

on Monday, calling China an “ugly oaf” and demanding it “get the f*** out” of Philippine maritime waters. His colourful language followed reports that Chinese coastguard ships had harassed their Philippine counterparts in the vicinity of the shoal, which is claimed by both countries.

The shoal lies 220km east of the Philippine island of Luzon and is within the Philippines’ exclusive economic zone but is also within the nine-dash line that Beijing uses to stake its claims to more than 90 per cent of the South China Sea.

My friend, no capitalist regime can be true ally of China. Capitalists always go to the highest bidder, not to mention China's public dominated economic system is incompatible with the fundamental interest of the ruling capitalist elite. Their oppressed poor masses may get funny ideas from China, like they may not have to be poor forever if they get a different system.

Duterte and a couple of his people are still cool with China, but unfortunately, it seems his foreign minister has gone rogue and started making this filibuster. We have to recognize the fact that American influence and ability to coerce someone to do their bidding is particularly strong in countries like the Philippines.

Actually interested to get @ansy1968's take on it - he seemed fairly pro-China when the Myanmar coup kicked off... gut feeling is that he's doing it to show he can be "tough on China" to win votes in the upcoming election?

You must understand that most Filipinos are pro-America and quasi nationalist at the same time when it comes to their "islands" being usurped, occupied, by China. In the minds of many Filipinos America will be there to back their bark in order to have some bite when it comes to any potential conflict with China. More importantly, the Filipino public writ large does not fear or in awe of China's military capability because most of them have been misinformed regarding Chinese military capabilities and the gargantuan gap/asymmetry between the two countries. Plus, the negative perception of anything China made is always of inferior quality which is why most of those people were reluctant and easily suaded by the negative news and propaganda regarding Sinovac vaccine.

If anyone of you can stomach to watch any of that country's public hearings on military readiness or anything related to China, none of their politicians, military morons would submit any semblance of military assessment that's grounded in reality. Most of their military four stars are not worth their salt as they tend to be corrupt and incompetent morons who all have blind spots for anything and everything America. And some of them are actually schooled in the U.S. military academies like West Point, Annapolis, and at Command and General Staff College (CGSC). Just look at their militarys performance 4 years ago when it battled their country's Islamic separatist at the battle of Marawi. The military operation took 5 months to completely subdue Islamic rebels that didn't have any modern Armour tanks, supply logistics, air force etc. While I acknowledge that urban warfare is one of the toughest combat arena to operate under the Philippine militarys performance was left wanting considering that their military has been geared, trained, manned and operated to fight against such type of enemies (Low intensity conflict).

But some of their people thinks like Jai Hind Indians as they assume that the Philippine military can replicate their performance against the PLA as they apparently did back in the Korean War at the battle of Yuldong. Watch any YouTube video that talks about the Korean War, you'll see comments from Filipino nationalists extolling their soldiers valour and heroism in stopping the PLA advance which most of them then use as evidence that Filipinos can fight with China toe to toe - yeah in some alternative f..ng universe.

@Gatekeeper @PhSt @crash8pilot @HybridHypothesis @Oldschool A repost with my conversation with my brother @Bellum_Romanum .

@Bellum_Romanum bro Locsin is a known nationalist, he need to say that publicly as a way to assuage public concern , that is his job as foreign secretary and your right he had a short fuse and he speak his mind, he and Duterte had the same frame of thinking and character. He is once an Amboy (American boy) having live there during Marcos Martial law years as an exile. What change him? having serve as Press secretary during the Cory Aquino term, he had seen how the American operates, the hidden hand as we called and also the nepotism the return of the old oligarch. Bro Locsin is playing for the crowd, it's a bad cop good cop routine and using the same Wokeness strategy the opposition are making, election is near and the topic of the SCS is a way for the opposition to be relevant, like I told you before the American will intervene BIG TIME, and you can see those people making noises are the same former official of the discredit Nonoy Aquino administration. They were embolden by Biden administration and funds are pouring in.

The opposition see the SCS issue as a way to damage Duterte popularity, His independent foreign policy is one of his campaign promises and will be his lasting legacy, people see the benefit it provide and that scare the heck out of Washington and its local counterpart here in the Philippines. And I think the opposition are making a big mistake they will lose the Presidential election, instead of entertaining and pursuing nation building as their platform, they follow the US diktat and wokeness, Duterte name is not in the ballot, he is not allow to run again, the more you gaslight him, the more popular he got , he had accomplish so much within 4 years of his administration that people here see real changes compare to his predecessors.

And Bro you noticed how ABS CBN handle this report, they are pushing an agenda, they want the next president or elected officials to be beholden to them and renew their onerous franchised which Duterte revoke, being embarrass publicly for their nefarious activity and exposed their biased reporting their viewership shrunk tremendously, they're not the king maker anymore thus lessen their power to influence politician.

@Bellum_Romanum bro Duterte is the President any word he spur out will become his official policy, so he is very careful how to frame his statement, while Locsin channel his statement thru twitter which is his private view not as a cabinet member since he is the executor of Duterte policy. And @Temstar is right they telegraph their messages to their intended audiences and as an observer who do you believed had the bigger impact? :cool:
