Exactly my assessment. They know any US presence would be permanent if China loses. Key is to play both sides while building up self defense capabilities. However the move favors China.
Hi localizer,

Duterte presidential victory, means there is an alternative option, that we can finally determine our own fate, and not be dictated by establish elites and the US. The past administration failures is a major contributor and we see the unseen hand of the US maneuvering behind the scene. The SCS arbitration is one of them and cost us our traditional fishing ground in scarborough shoal and also the political interference by the US ambassador (cia) goldberg during the last election.

However the move favors China.

We filipinos had no quarrel with China, even if there is discrimination against the Chinese we see them as good neighbors cause they didnt invade us. What Duterte had done is implement an independent foreign policy, friends to all enemy to none, which is enshrine in our constitution. And China will always be there while the US is far away, we know that America can instantly change its policy and left you alone holding the baggage.

Now the latest news about the pardon on US serviceman PEMBERTON is an example of playing both side, its a surprise action coming out of the blue. Its is done to help Trump in his reelection campaign. He is going against the grain of public opinion for a strategic purposes, If Biden wins there will be trouble in the Phillippines, The neo liberal side of the DNC will punish Duterte for offending their majesty Obama for calling him a SOB. and there are forces now moving and sowing the seed for a possible coup with the help of the oligarch and the elites.

On Tuesday, a US spy plane was spotted seeming to disguise itself as a Malaysian aircraft as it “patrolled intensively” between China’s Hainan Island and the Paracel Islands, which Beijing claims as well. The dangerous maneuver poses the risk of confusing civilian and military aircraft, which in the past has resulted in deadly airliner shootdowns.

According to the South China Sea Probing Initiative (SCSPI), a Chinese think tank connected to Peking University, a US Air Force RC-135W Rivet Joint signals intelligence spy plane was spotted departing Kadena Air Force Base on Okinawa, Japan, on Tuesday, only to be mysteriously replaced by what seemed to be a Malaysian aircraft over the South China Sea.

Once the plane crossed the South China Sea, it then

The think tank noted another RC-135W performed the same maneuver several days prior: broadcasting

identifier while it patrolled in the South China Sea, but switching back once it entered the Philippine Sea.

An aircraft’s hex code is

and only changed rarely. The code identifies the aircraft in the sky, telling other planes as well as ground control what it is and where it is. While it’s common for military aircraft engaged in combat patrols to refrain from broadcasting such signals for fairly obvious reasons, the transponder serves as the bedrock of civil aviation safety, preventing collisions as well as misidentifications.

However, the practice of using fake transponder codes to disguise its spy planes is a common practice in the US Air Force. In 2019, several such examples arose, all of them involving RC-135W Rivet Joints, which monitor communications and other emissions across a broad part of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Ansy, what is your view on the US election, I am curious if you think a Biden government will lead to better US-Phillipine relatoons
Hi silentlurker,

With the latest Trump mishap (interview with woodward) , he is going to lose his reelection bid, whatever view you have with Trump, for us filipino he gave us room to maneuver due to his friendship with Duterte. We have 4 years of non-interventionist from the US, as in NONE, well ambassador Kim also help, being Asian, he know how to deal diplomatically with leaders.

During the past administration and also of Obama era, they always interfere, The last ambassador Goldberg is a member of a CIA, when he was replace by Trump, he forward a strategy of how to topple Duterte, a color revolution type strategy, that is were the MSM began interested in the WAR on DRUGS, headlines after headlines with NGO both local and foreign blasting out fake news article. It was intense but when Trump visited Manila and finally met Duterte their friendship grew and out of that respect was given. Here we are thankful to Trump, we have experience a reprieve, a life of being a normal country were action is being taken for own national interest.

If Biden wins, with 2 more years before our Presidential election, the strategy forwarded by the Amb Goldberg will be implemented in full without any hesitation. The deep state inside Washington is already moving the pieces. Unfortunately for them the opposition is weak and in tatters, they had no concrete plan but to hark back the good old days of the failed policy of the AQuinos and the neo liberal. People are awaken, but this pandemic crisis also had a toll on our economic and social fabric, people can be sway easily, especially if you are hungry.

So we are all living in interesting time, Duterte need help to institute his legacy, six years is to short to dismantle a century of injustice.Right now people trust in him is high. And they will look to a Duterte like traits in their future elective official. This is were the next battle will be fought, the heart and minds of the filipino. With oligarch with their old money, the church, the elites and the US all uniting on an anti-duterte campaign narrative.

What is this worthless rag and what is it doing in the SCS thread?

Winter is setting in soon in the Himalayas and the two foreign ministers have just agreed for renewed troops disengagement. Tensions will no doubt continue but a direct theater level conflict is highly unlikely this year. It goes without saying that the rest of your supposed chain of events are a magnitude more unlikely still.

Long story short, please keep your fantasies to yourself next time.
