China's SCS Strategy Thread

China needs to be careful with this guy, I have a suspicion that he is the latest CIA asset assigned to the Philippines to promote and inflame anti-Chinese sentiments in the country. Also, since elections will be held next year, there is a big potential that Washington will interfere to support their candidate and install another Sinophobic president like the one before Duterte.

I am actually more worried about the ANC and interviewer.

What a brainfart interview. Why would Philippines-based ANC be asking an American outsider about the negotiations relating to code-of-conduct in SCS. He should be interviewing his own government.

I did not even be bothered with the rest of the video as it is too much brainfart on the part of the interviewer and ANC. He cannot be bothered to interview his own government officials. He seems to think interviewing a friendly American from Washington DC lends legitimacy to the leading questions. It is as if he wants this American to tell his Filipinos viewers what to think about issues relating to Philippines national interest.

Sad to see really.

Don't worry bro, ANC is part of the bias ABS-CBN media network that had it's franchise license revoke by our gov't. As you read and see the video it's a mouthpieces for the elite cause most of the populace are not well verse in English and most of its viewers and followers are here in Manila. Since their license is revoked they use YOUTUBE and FACEBOOK as a media platform and they have to share advertising revenue with them begrudgingly, last November google had deplatform them for not sharing and disclosing the amount of advertising revenue after multiple warning....LOL. they comply immediately hehehe they had met their match.

hahaha See how our bias media operate, nobody is watching that shitty show since Duterte won the presidency. And it's embarrassing, he is a smart aleck, trying to be cute as though he understand the issue and make a fool of himself.

He had an agenda, he is part of the YELLOW GROUP (Aquino) that want to topple Duterte. They need an outside intervention (US)cause they know their chances are slim , 2022 presidential election is near the SCS issue is one topic that they knew will hold Duterte to account.

Good for you to clarify the situation on the ground.

The interviewer is actually very disrespectful to the Filipino people where he had to ask permission from an American on what should the Philippines do in such a situation. Typical slave mentality. Even the interviewee was thrown off balance by the line of questioning.

Yup He is an American stooge, His name is Christian Esguerra, look at his face that is a distinctive feature of a Filipino what every angle you look, As a Filipino he is an embarrassment . He talk pretty English trying to impress As you can see for yourself in the video, all talk no substance wanted to look smart and gain recognition. He's trying so hard to climb the social ladder and be part of the elite. But they and his audience will never accept him cause he is not a mestizo (mixed race) nor a good looking fellow ;) . He choose the wrong profession, with that face of his, it's better for him to become an intellect and use his pretty English to help explain to the elites that they need to change their ways so that the society can prosper.

Its situations like this when I wonder why Chinese Filipinos are not doing more to gain more influence in politics, they have all the resources at their disposal to make this happen, its just that they don't seem interested in doing so. If you follow the trends lately, a lot of Chinese Filipinos are subjected to discrimination and stereotypes. Other minorities are subjected to the same treatment as well, like the Moros, but in the case of the latter they have been successful in lobbying the government to set laws to discourage people from discriminating against them, they even won concessions to set up their own autonomous region. There is no question that the Chinese have been in the Philippines even before the Spanish arrived so I believe they have every right to get proper representation when it comes to the country's policies both domestic and foreign.

Chinese Filipino certainly have a role a large one at that. The founder of the country Jose Rizal is Chinese mestizo and 7 out of 11 Philippine president are Chinese descendant. The first Phillipine president is Chinese descendant. Most of politician family are of Chinese descendant including Aquino, Corazon Aquino when she become president insists on visiting her ancestral home in Hongjian Fujian province and pray at family temple. Telling the villagers that though she is Phillipine president she is also daughter of Hongjian. maybe even Marcos But the problem is the Phillipine Chinese can be divided in pre 1920 or post 1920 generation Most of those politician are coming from mestizo Chinese pre 1920. They might be Chinese descendant but culturally they are coopted by the Phillipine elite and the think themselves more as elite Phillipino . Add to that the heavy inter marriage on Catholic conversion not much Chinese culture left. In fact they form the ruling elite of Phillipine so they don't identify or sympathy with China. The post 1920 is more sympathetic to China since they are only 2 or 3 generations away this the group behind Duterte. They are like Thai Chinese totally assimilated

It is different from Peranakan of Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia though they are 6 or even 7 generations away but they maintain Chinese culture and custom plus intermarry between Chinese so physically and culturally still Chinese LKY is one of them and so most of Singapore founding father

Wow!!!, @Hendrik_2000 you really know my country history, you're correct in every turn. I was born as a Filipino even though I'm proud of my Chinese ancestry my loyalty stay with my adopted country. The reason why the Chinese can easily assimilate is that it is in our Chinese culture to Return the Favor, my father was given an opportunity to start a new life and the only way to repay is to instill to himself and his family to be a positive contributor for society.

Add to that the heavy inter marriage on Catholic conversion not much Chinese culture left. In fact they form the ruling elite of Phillipine so they don't identify or sympathy with China.

Not all, there is a vibrant Chinese community in Binondo Chinatown, In Cebu, Bacolod and other major cities. The reason for the religious conversion is that you need a baptismal certificate to enter school and to be married in a church. A requirement that is introduce by the Spaniard and had been maintain today. As China become more powerful and prominent , you will see the Pendulum shift as most of these Hua Qiao politician will emerge.

Duterte knows that the US is run by a bunch of arrogant crooks who does not like being told to pay. This is actually a good move by making an impression that he is striving to make the best deal out of PH's outdated alliance with the US, at the same time he is not giving the US and its lapdogs an opportunity to brand him as appeasing China by scrapping the treaty without offering a deal.

However, Duterte only has 1 year left in office. In the local western influenced msm, there is already a full blown propaganda campaign to discredit Duterte, this is to support his party's potential rival for the executive post for the election next year. If another Sinophobic president like Aquino is elected in office all the gains that blossomed between the warm partnerships between China and the PH will be put in vain. This is where a Chinese Filipino political party will come in handy, with the enormous resources they are capable of amassing, they will have a huge advantage in putting into office politicians that will uphold Chinese Filipino interests.

He played it brilliantly, tapping on the abuse being committed by the American and their broken promises. He is playing both side and making their relationship transactional. His Independent Foreign Policy is bearing fruit with assistance from China, Russia and Japan, while the promise aid assistances from the EU and the US comes in trickle with a heavy dose of lecturing with string attached. That speech was deliver during the delivery of newly acquired military equipment and assets (all brand new), its a first in the history of our AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippine). Previous gov't rely on Surplus military equipment from the US thru the FMA ( Foreign military assistance) , most of those are junk (ex Huey) and we had to pay for the refurbishment (which always malfunction because of age that killed a lot of our servicemen). And by the way we are a Treaty ally, While Israel and Egypt are not but received $ billions in military grant. The obvious reason is that US want us to be poor and our military poorly equip so that we rely on them in return for the use of our bases as a context of protecting us

Don't worry the opposition is very weak and their chances is very slim, they want America to intervene so that they can seize power. The ANC interview (mostly aired in Manila) is a dry run trying to condition the mind of the people, but Duterte outflanked them by revoking ABS-CBN franchise crippling their propaganda outlet( therefore not influencing the presidential election). And this speech is a warning to the Americans that he knows their plan and not to interfere in our domestic affair.
Look its very difficult to break from the US, with a large Filipino American community who remit a lot of dollars to support our economy. But he can tap on the grievances that is simmering beneath the surface. The FILIPINO PRIDE, We wanted Respect and being treated as coequal.
This is where a Chinese Filipino political party will come in handy, with the enormous resources they are capable of amassing, they will have a huge advantage in putting into office politicians that will uphold Chinese Filipino interests.
@Hendrik_2000 explain it very well from his previous post and I think most of the Taipans and Chinese mestizo will support all candidates to hedge its bets to protect themselves and their business.
