I think China just answer with thisLook like US disinvite china from join RIMPAC this year due to SCS issue
the US had its 'Pacific Pivot':Simple reasons why the US did not challenged China beforehand? It was too busy, too distracted and too overstretched due to the ME wars. Not to mention a vast underestimation of what the Chinese can pull off.
This is not a knee jerk reaction by the US but a calculated downgrade of relations with China raising the stakes for China in disputing US "freedom of navigation"/military activities close to Chinese shores, setting up for even worse relations in the future by reducing opportunities for neutral/friendly official personnel interaction, as part of US containment of China and US intervention in the SCS disputes.Simple reasons why the US did not challenged China beforehand? It was too busy, too distracted and too overstretched due to the ME wars. Not to mention a vast underestimation of what the Chinese can pull off.
Personally, disinviting China for supposedly "bad behaviors" in the SCS is disingenuous as it neglects the actions of other participants like Vietnam (who reclaimed more places at once and did it first) or the Philippines (who rammed a boat onto a reef just to make a point, and have actually shot and killed fishermen in supposedly international waters). There is no angels in this muckpool.
This sort of knee jerk reaction is the last thing we need in this tangled web comb that is the SCS atm, what it needs is an clear view from an unbiased position. Something which is in short supply across the world.
For the same reason why US annex Hawaii and Britain annex Falkland and that is security consideration Nobody ring Sweden or Danemark with military bases and post WWII no one try to destabilize, roll back or retard Nordic country .They were protected by NATOwant to post also here what I said in

I'm a half-day flight away from the SCS, but I can't imagine WHAT IF now Sweden/Germany/Russia started to reclaim the Baltic Sea
(just in case: in not that distant past, either of those countries possessed almost all of the enclosed land around that sea, so they might present 'historic claims' to all of it, I guess; by the way also Denmark/Poland had been very strong in the area, earlier than the three mentioned, but still)
and put on military assets like large airports, big radars etc. ... I said WHAT IF because all these countries except Russia are in EU ...
I know the SCS is like ten times bigger than the Baltic Sea, it's not just China reclaiming (for example
I hope you won't take it as warmongering or something, I've read about Wars (just some of them, of course) in the Baltic Sea area since around 1000 until 1945, but this is not what I mean, I mean many countries might draw their 'X-dash' line and began reclaiming huh?
thanks Hendrik... you didn't give me some spin like there were no artificial islands, there were for environmental protection or whatever LOL it's obvious these are China Military forepostsFor the same reason why ...
