Very interesting images from an unnamed ETC brigade still flying J-11A, even Su-27SK (see cn. 38710) and J-11BS fighters. In the ETC there is in fact only one unit left flying these "old" Flankers, which is the 41st AB at Wuyishan, which allegedly is to get J-20.

How many of the older Flankers (J-11A, Su-27) are still in active PLAAF service today?
Just a guess based on their acquisition dates.

Around 95 to 100 J11 were produced from Russian kits between 2000 to 2006, and using 20 years as a rough estimate of service life, there are probably around 24 to 36 still in service, and expected to be fully retired anytime from 2024 to 2026.

3 batches of SU-27UBK were delivered to China. Last batch consist of 28 aircraft and were delivered starting from 2000. So the most they have in service is 28, and also expected to be completely retired anytime from this year to 2025/2026.

Interesting, naming them old flankers is a bit harsh, a lot of fighter fleets in the world are older than them but they are now outdated by what is pumped out in numbers by China. In the US, F-15C/D built in the 80s have just been mothballed in the last 5 years...
