Just wondering... what is the credibility of that website? I was readng the section on the KJ-2000 and it makes some claims about how advanced it is as compared to other established AWACS platforms.

generally, these sites are not too credible. However, the KJ-2000 article came from an interview with its developer. (if it's the one that I'm thinking of) So, I guess it at least shows their confidence in the system.

As for this flanker, we know at least this is not one of the improved su-33s with canards. Other than that, I'm not sure what to make of it. It looks like the Lerx is slightly larger, but that could just be my eyes.

another article from HKB (aerospace daily) on a new fighter from SAC (J-11B)
j11barticlejan15lx6.jpg

a lot of stuff here is interesting like it took 4 years and works with 60 institutes for the fighter to basically be developed. It also talks about newer material for the planes that extends life, reduces weight developed over the time. A whole new avionics system being developed with a lot of work, A4 pages, files and such. It took 10 months to complete the system design and another 9 months to conduct China's largest avionics integration test. It past many tests. It took 7 months to develop a whole set of measuring system. A lot of boasting. I don't think this really deserves it, since it took so long to come out.

according to kanwa, 50% of component such as engine,IRST still has to be imported from Russia.
despite talk of J-11B as some sort of Chinese equivalent of SU-30MKK,J-11B may turn out to be more like SU-27SKM.
according to DIIC, new technology developed for MiG-1.19,forward sweep fighter were later incorporated into MiG-35 and SU-30Mkk,the main computer for SU-30mkk along is more powerful than EF-2000,but still lower than F-22.

No... your way off buddy dont believe in Kanwa its to me seems more like a leisure reading rather then a credible source for PLA. WS-10A engines has most bugs fixed, domestic avionics and instruments are flying, HMS doing well only thing that could be lacking a litte bit compared to rest would be radar.

J-11B should be better than the Su-30MKK3 offered to PLA if not well then I dont know what the PLA researchers are doing them with increased funds being allocated to them. Su-30 computer being more powerful than Euro well depends what you mean by the word "Powerful" really

PLAAF biggest achilles heel was technological dependency on Russia.
Most of Chinese avionic is still generation behind that of US.

The main computer for the Su-30MKK is something that is the equivalent of a 486. The ones on the Typhoon are PowerPCs.

The original computer on the F/A-18A and B Hornets were considered to be equivalent to a Commodore 64, while the F/A-18C and D Hornets computers are considered equivalent to a Pentium I.

Just because the speed is equivalent to 'pentium 1' does not mean you can just use pentium 1.

In flight critical avionics, program memory has to be on non-volatile memory and no cache can be used. This means memory latency may be pretty bad, and effective throughput reduced by a lot.

I think this might've been posted a while back, but it's a good summary, nonetheless, shows all of the parts on J-11B. There are actually a few other subsystems that don't seem to come up right now. But gives a good demonstration of what J-11B might have right now.
