It seems to be more like the FWS-10 displayed at the aviation museum than the one displayed at Zhuhai 2008. But I agree with kroko. The image is too blurry to say definitely that it is the FWS-10 and not the regular AL-31.

I think this could be the same plane, but taken at a different angle showing the tail, looks like it could be WS-10A

The pictures of the J-11B's cockpit is interesting, it shows the HUD glowing green... 0.o
Kinda like some of the pics showing Rafale and the F-22 with it's HUD glowing green too...

I'm not sure what that means, but it is way cool :D

I believe that's because J-11B is using holographic HUD like F-22 and Rafale. Most fighter jets out there don't have this, but I think it's becoming pretty standard starting from J-11B with J-10B also getting it.

What advantage does a holographic HUD actually give? (Apart from looking awesome)

Rumors have been going around since early 08 that the 30th D will receive the next unit of J11Bs. Maybe that's where these new birds are headed next.

1,2,3,18,29堪称五虎猛将
9,14,19,33,44算是一品带刀侍卫
6,7,12,21,24可谓卧虎藏龙
15,30,37即将东山再起……

Recently found this on the mainland forum Super Base, posted by one of the mods. Basically saying that the first five are the elite, frontline units (does that mean they each have at least two third gen regiments???). The next five are the next best, and so on. The 15th, 30th, and 37th are mentioned as receiving new toys soon, so if the 30th do indeed receive this batch of J11Bs, that's one down. Not sure if and when the 15th and 37th will receive new toys, possibly J-10s. With all the news coming from central asia from the security and economic fronts, it seems like Xinjiang is about to get a lot more focus now.

Funny that the 12th and the 21st are mentioned among the elite units...don't recall any reports that they have received third gen fighters.
