Sorry, but this is a very bad joke !!! Just take a look at the Image used in that Report: It's just a simple Single-seater J-11B ... and keeping in mind that since some time - I think started by KANWA ?? - all Naval Flankers were called J-16 by uniformed "sources" it explains that such links jump right on that wagon.

IMHO, this is not a good source.

Wikipedia's only source it the same article from WantChinaTimes, but WantChinaTimes is known for its inaccuracies, and this article is full of them.

Start with the very photo they use to represent the J-16...which is a single seat J-11. The J-16 is a tandem seat aircraft based on the J-11BS.

Among others, at the end, they repeat this whopper:

WantChinaTimes said:
Late last year, after several years of negotiations, Russia finally agreed to sell 48 Su-35MB fighters to the PLA.

How many times does that have to be disproven?

Sorry, but based on these sources I do not believe at all that the PLAN has taken deliver of 24 J-16s.

Perhaps "Want China Times" and/or Strategy will run with this...

J-17-PLAN.jpg

J-17 Prototype Flying in PLAN Colors

That should get the juices flowing.

That should get some rumors going.

Very good idea ... I'm almost sure if we wait until tomorrow that image will surely be shown by a frightening news-report written by David Axe or any other of his friends ! ;););)

Maybe You keep this image for next April 1. !?
