China needs hundreds of Taihangs to replace the old AL-31 engines.

If I recall correctly, this is the first picture I've seen of the older flanker fitted with TaiHang.

There was another one, if I did not recall wrongly but some claimed that one has the radomne PS into J-11A series of non black.

By the way, this pic seems to show a testing again. One AL-31F and another clearly is WS-10A. But serial number PS off.

But I hope this is an indication real mass production of WS-10A is coming. Indeed, with this testing and recent continue order of AL-31F.
It does not indicate well WS-10A is producing enough numbers to fulfil PLAAF requirement. I hope this situation will end soon.

Hey, if this picture is recent, then it means that WS-10 is still testing. Hasnt the engine entered service already ?

This picture must be old.

It might be the integration phase of replacing the old AL-31F engine. The WS-10A engine might be stable but the old airframe might show some strain.

Oh, you are saying that they are replacing the AL-31 engines on the old flankers? is it worthy to manufacture new engines to equip old craft that probably wont last long, just for the sake of replacing russian stuff?

Anything new on the J-15 ? Because they are ramping up sea trials of the ex-Varyag over at Dalian.

AFAIK, there hasnt been any new pictures from J-15 from awhile (due to security, i think). Who knows how it is proceding ?

Probably after the frame is exhausted, the working engine still can be extract from the frame and used as spare.

As for the new J-15, its bit harder to extract more info after our reliable wall climber was invited for tea session with authorities.
