A Chinese reporting wrote that CCG 18602 is ex GY820 integrated support ship operated by PLA Ground Force. PLA Ground Force had 2 ships of the same class. It is possible that both ships were transferred to CCG.

CCG 18602 is said to be a training ship for the CCG Training Academy.

According to new information, this new-class cutter for the CCG has just been launched at Huangpu-Wenchong.

What's more: This 1500-2000-ton cutter likely features not just 16V270 diesel engines in CODAD propulsion system, but also pump-jets (similar to the ones on the Hai Kuai #1). There is also likely the export version of the SR2402C radar being mounted on the top mast.

The post-launch photos of the cutter should appear soon.

In the meantime, here's hoping that Hai Kuai #1 will get retrofitted for CCG use in the future as well, instead of just being left moored at Huangpu-Wenchong for many years to come/scrapped.

Basically a technological evaluation and verification platform ship that is powered by pump-jets instead of more conventional propeller shafts.

Launched in 2018 at Huangpu-Wenchong, the ship is pretty much moored and left alone after some trials were conducted because nobody is interested in purchasing the ship.
