So there's no clear idea of how it went down? Indian media said they captured a PLA soldier and released him later while Chinese media says they beat up some of the Indian soldiers and only had one injury. Is that right?

There were skirmishes for a while. It is not a single incident.

As more and more tidbits of details trickled out, all these hyped up Indian news about PLA troops crossing over the LAC and occupying Indian territories are shaping up to be fake news. PLA never crossed the LAC at finger 4 since Kargil War when China constructed the road to finger 4. Chinese troops are right smack on the LAC line overlooking the narrow Galwan Valley, not over in the Indian territories. Both Pangong Tso and Naku La incidents were the results of hothead junior Indian officers' reckless actions, with strategic implications no less, where over 90% of encounters ended in both sides backing off and basically each side calling it the day.

Doesn't India claim finger 1-8 while China claim finger 2-8?

Chinese claim line doesn't change since 1960, up to finger 4. India claims up to old khurnak fort, past finger 8 to the east.
