I'm not sure how these retributive fantasies serve to advance the case that we in Australia have little to fear from the prospect of Chinese hegemony, but assuredly there are many varieties of posters on this board so I address the more reasonable subset:

Observers should by now be aware of the preeminent role that current Minister of Defence and future Prime Ministerial hopeful Peter Dutton plays as Australia's leading "China hawk", particularly in relation to his recent comments on Taiwan.

As such, folks might get a little kick out of the following parliamentary exchange, in which the current Leader of the Opposition, Anthony Albanese, calls Peter Dutton a "boofhead":

Somehere, Keating is smiling.

There is the saving grace that not all australians subscribe to the racist Wolverines! fantasy that afflicts a significant demographic of the continent, but the real power in canberra really lies at the US embassy; Canberra takes its marching orders from the anglo americna viceroy of australia, the sitting US ambassador who just so happens to be a former US General.

Australia's role has always been to act as a sacrificial rock for the greater Anglo hegemon; in the minds of the Five Eyes, australia is already lost, the anglo american high command simply wishes to use australia as a source to pin down PLAN forces to prevent the real pain from attacking CONUS.

Here is an analysis on Aukus from the Malaysian perspective. The hosting platform is a department of the National Defence University of Malaysia so the article probably does carry some sentiment of the Malaysian government. Author has decent credentials and has commented on defence matters before.

In summary, it is a scathing review on Australia’s current foreign policies and show alarm by South East Asian governments.

3.5b worth of tanks? Is that wise, are tanks even useful defence in Australia?
So $3.5 billion for 120 tanks and armoured vehicles.
Averaging $30 million per unit, are they made out of gold and diamond or what? Lol

This is more for subsidising America's MIC than anything else

While the public focus of AUKUS is on SSNs, AUKUS also includes cooperation on "cyber capabilities, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies and additional undersea capabilities" (not further specified). That is from the official announcement. Will AUKUS evolve, publicly, into a defence and security treaty-like arrangement? If so what might it look like?

AUKUS is basically the white/anglo-saxons sticking together. It is inevitable that they will become closer.

Infact, I am expecting that in the coming years all these puppet countries will lose even more sovereignty and they will get closer towards integrating with the US.

I am talking about security/diplomacy/tech/economy policies becoming increasingly "coordinated" (dictated by the US..)

The 45 or so tanks that were purchased back in 2007 of the same tank but of older variant weren't even used for combat and apparently they were too heavy to be used for their roads, bridges in Northern Australia. Those tanks were replaced by another sets of tanks that will likely not be used anytime soon or ever.

It's unfortunate that countries like Australia are essentially forced to subsidize/buy American military hardwares from a false narrative of China threat and even if that threat let's say is remotely true how is a total of 75 M1A2 tanks going to be sufficient to face against hordes or Chinese PLA tanks if it were to invade the kangaroo land?
