France announced on Friday that it is immediately recalling its ambassador to the United States, Philippe Étienne, in protest of President Biden’s announcement of an agreement to provide nuclear-powered submarines to Australia without consulting French officials.
In a statement, the French foreign minister said the decision was made by French President Emmanuel Macron.
“At the request of the President of the Republic, I have decided to immediately recall our two ambassadors to the United States and Australia to Paris for consultations,” Jean-Yves Le Drian, the foreign minister said. “This exceptional decision is justified by the exceptional gravity of the announcements made on 15 September by Australia and the United States.”
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

China has to be modest and learn from the mistakes of the USSR.

NATO beat the USSR. Let no one forget it.
NATO beat the USSR because:
- It was 6 times bigger economically
- The USSR had massive ethnic and religious problems.
- Its economy was not growing.
- NATO adopted a doctrine that envisions massive use of tactical nukes nullifying the overwhelming conventional superiority of the USSR in Europe.
- It liberalized the country too fast causing revolts
- The corruption was at an unimaginable scale. The USSR didn't even know the prices for individual weapons.

You forgot to mention that USSR had to maintain 44 divisions East of the Urals to guard against China - more than it had in the West.

.- The Warsaw Pact was not six times smaller economically
.- Not in those years
.- Truth
.- False, and I am speaking to you from a NATO country, Spain. The doctrine was to hold the tanks of the Warsaw Pact until the massive arrival of reinforcements from the US, UK and Canada.
.-Truth
.-Truth

My view from the extreme west of NATO in Europe.

One of the first lessons China has to learn is to form its own "Warsaw Pact".

The second lesson is how NATO managed to divide the Warsaw Pact, first in Czechosvakia, then in Yugoslavia and in the Baltic republics.

In Europe we have a saying in Latin, "Dīvide et īmpera". Partition and conquer.

AUKUS, the first thing that are going to try is to destabilize CHINA, first of its potential allies, and then in regions like Tibet or Xinjiang.

Those who do not know history are condemned to repeat it
