This is a clear case of Tech theft. They developed the tech in China and now they are literally fleeing from China and taking the tech with them.

I hope the govt prevent this from happening with proper export controls.
Don't worry, Manus never gained traction in China anyway. Next-gen foundational models now natively integrate MCP and Agent implementations at their core—technically superior to Manus' architecture.

Shortly after Manus launched, China's AI community recognized it as a stopgap solution riddled with persistent stability issues and excessive token consumption per task. Reliant on foreign LLMs and barely functional for Chinese use cases, it attracted zero official localization efforts and minimal market interest domestically.

One of the Kimi researchers recently published a blog saying all the agentic systems including Manus were basically only useful because of Claude. We all know how Anthropic’s CEO feels about China, so it was a castle built on sand. Deep Seek & Moon Shot are taking the right path by forging their own foundation models to try & beat Anthropic. The analogy to other industries is Chinese companies all building on top of American chips technology only to have the rug pulled from under them by Trump.

I believe we are witnessing an awakening among Chinese start ups that used to think the greatest opportunities were in building applications that “wrapped” foundation models someone else built, but who now realize that it’s the foundation model itself that drives real value. I’m seeing more teams starting to get back to the foundation model race. IMO that’s the right path forward for Chinese AI, which needs more players in the frontier model building space.

Talking about agents and Manus. OpenAI unveleid Agent mode in ChatGPT. Looks this is trend now to real AI aplications

Keep in mind that we do expect some level of post quality here which involves more than just listing tweets from random people on X.

So with that said, the tweets listed here are by who exactly and what is their qualifications to be listed here?

It makes one wonder whether the SOTA closed models in the West are actually just agentic systems under the hood.
