American Economics Thread

I think this is an interesting point. If it really is just telecom gear who give a hoot? I speculate American lack of research into 5G makes wiretapping harder. If their vassal states were to acquire 5G from Huawei it meant their control over their vassal leader weakens. In other words Huawei would be a strong national security threat to US, just not the way they tell you. Additionally if Huawei 5G is just telecom gears, why do countries sour their relations with US just to buy Huawei? For instance Qatar and Kuwait are giving up F-35 for Huawei gears. If those are just telecom gears are they really worth the geopolitical risk and advanced weapon sales?
They know "Huawei is a security threat" is bull and the benefits of faster and cheaper 5G far outweigh the risks of American retaliation.

BTW those huge Gulf weapon sales were always some sort of bribes to the American MIC and the politicians in their pockets to curry favor in DC.

Biden in his misguided rush to divide the world between so called democracies and autocracies forgot that that the wealthy Gulf states are absolute monarchies and they have long memories.

The feel insecure around his presidency.

Give it time, there is no rush.

The truth is that everyone owns too much American assets, so no one wants to do anything too drastic.

:p
It's more than that.

Dollar hegemony is also the way China acquired a goods hegemony.

If it was RMB people were demanding for trades, China could not corner markets in anywhere near the same way because they must export more RMB than they sell.

China would never have been able to become the largest economy if not for the dollar.

Beijing does therefore not want immediate demise of dollar and especially not replacement by RMB. There are still sectors where expansion potentials are still endless, like EVs and semiconductors.

US economy became filled with bullshit "activity" (I.e. Gdp that isn't real growth) and far too dependent on world economy due to being the reserve currency. If China takes the leap, a similar thing might happen.

31% of Asian students are also failing Math standards…
They need to do a by-country breakdown rather than lump all Asians together cus I know these aren't East Asian much less Chinese people. Chinese people make fun of you if you didn't get the full 800 on the math SAT/GRE. The Chinese kids I know who were in Asian gangs were taking still taking AP Calculus BC... and volunteering at the hospital during thier non-gang time LOL Don't wanna be racist by pointing out specific countries even though I have a pretty good idea, but they need to separate the type of Asian cus they're making Chinese people look bad.
