How many people in US can show geometrically sin2+cos2=1 ?
Both quantum computing or AINN/DMML requires very strong mathematical background. US always lacked in core scientific fields. Those are ruled by Japanese, Koreans . I am really looking forward to this year's math & physics Olympiad .
US "spending billion" for super computing means they will probably hire engineers from other countries.

You are really underestimating the Americans.

The reality is they are far ahead of China in quantum computing and with today's announcement, they are only going to leap further ahead.

One day lithography will be at its limits and quantum computing will leapfrog even EUV lithography.

It is notable that when a Chinese foundation created a prize to recognize excellence in quantum science, only one of the 12 recipients was Chinese.

Not really a problem since most of the STEM talents are from overseas. This will be a problem if Trump continues his xenophobic policies, particularly against Chinese students.

No, you are over estimating them while under estimating the influence of "brain drain" which accounts for overwhelming portion of "American" talent.
WW2 would be a nice revisit through memory lane. America came out winning but I hardly can remember any American scientists from that period.
As for their "super quantum computer" I would believe it when I see it. Still waiting for their "laser BMD" lol.
The biggest weakness weakness of China in this field is, China isn't a migrant destination.

Money will have the final say on where these talents go. That's the problem. US didn't have any competition in draining brain. Now it's going to be a bit difficult for them.

Ya, since when "the therapeutic breakthrough" has become vaccine? Did they vote it to be called vaccine?
They should first try to make vaccine of the American Swine they spread instead of begging it from EU.

Do me a favor, Americans should stick to "enjoying freedom", go stand over there ,make some p--n movie perhaps. As usual in competition among EU, Chinese , Russians , some EU company will probably make it & these Americans will hide behind banner of "west" saying "oh look, west did it again, now i want to be leader again for my freedom"

10k dollar bet right now, they won't be able to develop shit.

Notice It is now not just Trump calling it the 'China virus'. I've heard we lie, we cheat Pompeo calling it. Don junior calling it, and now I sold my soul Kayleigh us doing it. It looks like all his team's are calling it. It is a coherent effort by Trump and his lackeys to try and shift the blame onto China.

They know they're going to get a pasting this November if they don't pass on the blame to someone else.

Actually, you are really underestimating China both in current capacity and in potential. I have read many articles about the quantum competition between China and the US and while there is disagreement as to whether the US or China is currently ahead, people generally say that China has more momentum and is likely to take the crown in the future, and this was before COVID affected the US so much more than it did China. $1B will be helpful for the US, but they are behind the curve as China has already pledged several billions in investment with goals into the 2030s. This is America's catch-up attempt, except they are hobbled by COVID and deteriorating race relations making it more hostile for the foreign engineers that drive American innovation.

In either case, I see nothing to support your claim that the US is far ahead of China or that they are moving faster, but you've already admitted that your strategy is to be negative on Chinese prospects on a pro-China discussion and negative on American prospects on pro-US discussions so basically what you say does not have value nor is it rooted in reality, but just your laughably futile attempts to partner two naturally feuding nations at the online forum level.

I don't know much about tech. But I do know a little about finances. Where the hell all of a sudden did Trump produce all these new money he announced. And these is on top of all those other promises he made to offset the covid 19.

All these money will have a drag on the economy of the future, as someone somewhere have to pay for it!

People like me are involuntarily paying for it through inflation.

US wealth exceeds $100 trillion, spending $10 trillion is not a significant dilution of wealth.
