Yes, overall, it's a quite an interesting perspective from a Canadian living just across the border from Seattle.

I do have a couple of issues with his proposition.

First:

Trump’s performance and America’s crisis deflected attention from China’s own mishandling of the initial outbreak in Wuhan, not to mention its move to 'crush democracy in Hong Kong.' When an American official raised the issue of human rights on Twitter, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, invoking the killing of George Floyd, responded with one short phrase, “I can’t breathe.”

Where in the world has China crush democracy? Have I missed the troops being sent in? Have I witness police being sent in to clear the street just so president Xi can stand in front of a church with a bible in his hand?

The other issue is the Xinjing 'internment camp'. Where's the orange jump suits? Where's the man tied with his genital being mocked. Oh how we forget!

So I think reading Ruth caution is advised.

Initially I was worried about Obama's "pivot to Asia" signifying a focused anti-China policy. China managed to stay stealthy while the US was occupied by Iraq and other Middle East wars. China managed to get another 4 years of valuable time under Trump who turned out to be a mercantilist...

Why should we care a single bit about the misfourtune of the american people? i mean half of them were probably gleefully hoping for the collapse of the 3 gorge dam during the floods last month, and the only people that didn't were pointing out how it was the source of PPE production for the US, chinese lives be damned. What exactly is the value of an american life, why is it worth more than the 140 million pre-columbian indigenous lives who were brutally annihilated and reduced to now 2-3 million across the lower 48 states, and many on pitiful reservations with no ways of self sufficiency.

When someone says "death to americans", why is that something to recoil or feel bad about? Mainstream media says death to iraqis/death to iranians all the time. What exactly is so evil about wishing a continued onslaught of COVID that will further batter and collapse the american nation, i means good chunk of both the left and right in america wishes it upon their fellow americans anyways. I don't ask these questions rhetorically, but rather openly and honest.

Hmmm, you do have a very good point. The USA has always wanted someone else to suffer so they can point there fingers and laugh. Hence it is indeed their turn just like all those countries they have bombed by simply excuse as 'democracy' (God I am starting to hate that damn word) and oh boy I hope they finally realize that they are not going to get away easy this time like they always seem to pretend they do.

The Americans are a good and generous people. Most of them don't actually care about China. The people cheering on the collapse of the 3 gorge dam are mostly China watchers and their hangers on. You get those from people of every nationality.
