Good job, Iran has survived.

Yes, Israel really got them flat footed in the beginning with all the Mossad infiltration. But I think on the positive side, Iran showed tremendous resilience and organization to come back as they did, cause huge destruction on Israel as well.

I think the lesson for Iran is to not change course but to double/tripple down on it. Get more military strength, get more nuclear capabilities even if they have to eat grass for it. Let's see if they can get things done.

President Trump claims a ceasefire between Israel and Iran has been agreed to

In a post on Truth Social, president Trump claims a 12-hr ceasefire between Israel and Iran has been reached. The ceasefire, he says, will begin in 6 hours.

He writes:

CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED!

Officially, Iran will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 24th Hour, an Official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World. During each CEASEFIRE, the other side will remain PEACEFUL and RESPECTFUL. On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, “THE 12 DAY WAR.” This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will! God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!”

It's over now and Trump will take a victory lap, thanking everyone for paying attention to his posts.

But the consequences from this war are far from over.
  • Iran will rush for the bomb. I highly doubt their enrichment capability have been "totally destroyed."
  • Iran will focus on upgrading their Air Force and Air Defense. They've seen the folly of their pride and will probably be in Russia and/or China looking to buy gears. Iran might become the second operator of Su-57 and maybe the J-35. They have money to splash.
Israel and US will come off worse off from all this. They've pushed Iran into this and either have to keep bombing Iran perpetually to keep their air space open or they will just watch as Iran starts flying Su-35, Su-57s and J-10s, J-35s, while being protected by better Air defense.

If Iran doesn't take modernization seriously and only focus on propping up terrorist proxies, then they are more idiotic than I had assumed. Those proxies they spent decades building all stayed on the sidelines fearfully. The IRGC should be disbanded in my opinion.

In fairness, the UN conventional arms embargo on Iran only ended in October 2020. It's unclear to me how much "pride" had to do with Tehran's focus on developing indigenous military capabilities rather than sheer necessity.
