Destruction of Israel is official goal of Iran, so they are well matched. Americans, on the contrary, are not interested in destruction of Iran, they would rather prefer to drag it away from Russia and, to lesser extent, from China.
Semantics maybe, but Iran has always stated that it is the destruction of the Zionist regime governing Israel that it wants to destroy, not the State of Israel. Words matter when it is lives on the line.

I'd argue this different than the Russian-Ukraine war. Israel initiated the kinetic war, not Russia and Israel isn't nearly as important of a market to China as the EU. It's also a very bad look but for China to stand by and watch a BRICS member, BRI participate and strategic partner get attack and do nothing. It's one thing for China not to intervene militarily but its another to use its diplomatic and economic pressure on Israel and the USA. I don't think China particularly cares "that much" about its rare earth deal, especially since it was the US that called first.
