so the lunch of First 095 is right on time no ? When was the 12m meter beam section first spotted ?
Is the 095 more of a seawolf capability or more of a Virginia ?

We've seen 21 before -- 12 filled, 9 visible...

But given past models and past art and application of common sense (they seem to come in 2x3 VLS cell hull modules), it is likely that it's actually 12 filled, 9 visible, and 3 partly obscured by the angle of the photo.

I still think these are 12 tubes sat on top of the hull waiting to be dropped into the visible slots. It appears they are creating a shadow which if they were inside the boat, there wouldn't be.

Very hard to tell, even with that quality imagery. And I've stared at it for hours.

I think so far at least, the naval news story is far better than what Sutton wrote. Which given sutton’s background, this is not a great look. Maybe he is waiting to hear more opinions.

I think there is some obvious point you can infer from just what we can see on the outside and the speculated 200MWt reactor.

given that my knowledge on this is limited, I was hoping to see if others had more insight on this. So far, it’s been non existent. Which again shows the lack of knowledge in public realm about submarine operations.
Sutton's background?

As far as I'm aware, he's a Swiss banker, living in Switzerland (last I knew), that likes submarines and drawing them. He's never served, let alone been on an active submarine.

Twatter made him famous.

I may be wrong, but I don't think so.

Various posts freewheeling speculating about applications of supercritical CO2 reactor technology moved to the naval propulsion thread.

I would like to remind people that our ability to do freewheeling speculation is deliberately limited.
Ultimately we take our cues from the grapevine to make projections.

Just because something is "theoretically possible" doesn't mean it is worth discussion in a primary thread if there are no indicators or rumours of something being actively applied or pursued.

I sent them a report - they used in-house people instead.

I must admit, I also wrote for Jane's for a while, and as long as my "old" boss was still responsible for the reports, everything went well. Strangely enough, he was then fired, and his successor started drastically rewriting my reports, so that they either barely reflected my original work or he often insisted, since he was also involved, that I was only a co-author. Eventually, I quit myself!

And shortly afterward, the China department—or at least that's my impression—was completely restructured with Indians, which I frankly find more than odd, and in my opinion, it's very noticeable in the quality.
