09III/09IV (093/094) Nuclear Submarine Thread

How solid is this information on the existence of an improved JL-2A missile and its range? If accurate, that would be a very significant development in terms of enhancing the deterrence value of China's SSBNs. Does the JL-2A designation imply the missiles have the same dimensions as existing JL-2 and therefore suggest that it can be retrofitted to existing 094 boats?

It show his deep insecurity and ignorance . China has moved on since the day of Type 92 . It is necessary steps since China has no outside help or access to nuclear submarine.Without it there will be no type 94 and soon type 96. China is not India when she need nuclear submarine she lease it from Russia but by doing it she didn't develop their own manufacturing capacity and forever depended on Russia

And you too are in denial I don't know what is wrong with you. You seem to enjoy China put down

You have big chip on your shoulder of Western superiority.Well wake up and smell the coffee today is 2017 and not 1918

First-generations almost always suck. WW1 tanks were crap even by the time of WW2. Closer to today, I remember when the first DJI Phantom only had a flight time of 10 mins (25 now).

You can either give up at the first-gen stage or try and improve your product. China chose the latter. Evidently, it has paid off.

BZ (Bravo Zulu = Well Done) PLA-N. The other big navies have nuclear subs & so it is only pragmatic for China to have theirs. My observation as an Old Salt is "Respect commands Respect" - it's not an antagonistic posture but one that is realistic.

Those are very old news, and irrespective of whether they can be verified to be accurate or not, they have no relevance to the state of China's current submarine development.

Just keep in mind that that was a time when China had to start from the equivalent of ground zero of technological base after the cultural revolution when the intellectuals, engineers and scientists went into exile or extinctions.

Comparing China very old days of technological base (during the cultural revolution, or just after that) to that of her current state of development is like comparing abacus to supercomputers.
