as far as i can see theres only one Dokdo class assualt ship, 6111, if there is anymore is there any pictures of them?

launched in July 2005 and commissioned in July 2007 we would expect that there should be more on the way, or at the minimum even built by now, even if South Korea was getting to know the ship i guess 5 years would be enough for the next one to be laid and launched, maybe the other 3 have been cancelled?

btw love that huge black SMART-L air search radar sitting on the Dokdo looks really cool making 4 of these would be a awesome for South Korean Navy if that is what they intend to do

As far as I can research I also see one DOKDO class in service. And I can find zero photos of the second vessel. Which according to some ROK military fan boys is in service.

Perhaps Jeff has more information.

ive been calling it Dodko instead of Dokdo, just edited my posts! yes i think now theres only one in service and the rest are not even under construction or laid, but i may be wrong on that

If that is indeed true, and the first LHD keel is lay down ... please call 911, 001 or whatever emergency service you have where you are. Sensory overload from the past few weeks! x_x

A thread exists for discussing PLAN LHD/LHA development.

But yep a 40k ton helicarrier won't be crazy if we consider 071s full load is 28k tons.

I wonder if we'll see a carrier and LHD/A under construction somewhat concurrently in the not so distant future.



Although at the moment I still think the VSTOL plane is unsubstantiated
