Pic to the left? *confused*

But is having a wooden flight deck (that doesn't rust) a worthwhile tradeoff over a metallic one, which has it's... own good qualities?
The Type 071 flight deck is not wood. It's metal.

Is it? It looks wooden IMHO..

I mean it's brown and everything...
Is there a way to distinguish between metal and wooden?

That looks to me more like a paint that is both anti skid and anti fouling.

If you look closely at the large picture (by clicking on the title of the one posted) you can clearly see the metal plates. It is clearly not wood planking.

The PLAN has applied their version of a non-skid surface and that accouts for the color.

Here's another view.

check this out, basically you can see 071 getting replenished as part of the training exercise. It is on its way home from the naval review.

Does any one know what the states of the type 071 LPD are length, width, weight?
