UVLS has 3 models, 3.3m, 7m, 9m.
HQ-9B is using 7m package. YJ-21 is longer than 7m. But I think that YJ-21 should be an ABM same as 77N6 in S500.
YJ-21 is an ASBM. YJ-18 and CJ-10 are also using the 9m cell

Those are very big missiles, they seem to be heavier than 1500kg, but I don't know

The naval variant of the BrahMos weighs 3,000 kg. and has a length of 8.4 meters

If I had to take a guess.......considering what the YJ-21 is capable of doing you're going to need the biggest, the heaviest missile that can squeeze into that Launch cell.

The mass and length of the YJ-21 is probably very similar to the Brahmos.

Doing a rough calculation by approximating both missiles as cylinders.
Brahmos: π x (0.3^2) x 8.4 ≈ 2.38 m^3
YJ-21: π x (0.42^2) x 8.3 ≈ 4.5m^3
So YJ-21 should be around 5670kg, around 1.9x the mass of BrahMos

I think you should compare to V-2.

HQ-9B is longer than YJ-18. And you could see that YJ-18 launched from 7m model on 052D.View attachment 113186View attachment 113187View attachment 113188

YJ-18 needs the 9m length because it is hot launched with a booster which in turn needs the concentric canister launch exhaust as well which adds additional length.

On the 052D, the two rear 8 cell modules in the bow 32 cell VLS section is thought to be 9m long alone. On 052D we've only seen YJ-18 launched from those 16 VLS cells.

Regardless, you haven't provided any evidence to suggest that the UVLS is limited to supporting payloads of 1.5 tons, so a retraction from you would be appreciated.
