Isn't 052DG just another name for 052DL? Both labels are Internet invented. PLAN doesn't use 'gai'. The extended variant is already the third batch improvement. The question is whether we have a fourth.

How many type 055's are in construction? I heard there was a total of 16 to be built in total and read that some of another batch were spotted in construction but how many?

At their peak, according to Wikipedia, they were launching 4/5 Burkes in the early to mid-90s. I don't know what else was going on at those at the time. Basically China and the United States are the only military ship building nations of any significant extent. I wouldn't be surprised if their combined annual output was greater than the rest of the world combined.

There are six generators on the ship, but with three in the forward amidships and three in the stern amidships area.

I don't think the number of these intakes would correspond to one generator each -- as there should only be three generators in that position (forward amidships), and for those intakes to go all the way to the stern amidships area would waste a lot of space.


Also, let's recall that there are additional side intakes as well on each side of the base of the structure.
