Chinese shipyards formidable in the quality and quality of warships of all variations

Catermaran, coast guard, FFG, Ocean going tug and a Type 056 in that one photo

I wonder what else is building there and that is only one of many Chinese shipyards

The last time China launched 4 x Type 054A in a single year was 6 years ago in 2011

They have upped the tempo this year

28th 054A frigate & 3rd seagoing tugboat were launched at HP shipyard on 22 September via HSH.

Is it known how many 054A frigates are currently being built ?

The table in the Chinese wikipedia entry seems to say that there are 3 ships already launched in 2017, one additional ship from HD that should be launched soon and another one in work at HP.

I think the Type-54A is due for an update, so the Type-54B/Type-57 should start appearing soon.

And in total, I reckon China is currently planning on a fleet of 60 frigates, although they could revise this figure upwards in 5 years when the Chinese economy is 30%+ larger than it is today. Presumably military spending and maritime trade would track this increase.

Remember that the US is planning on 52 LCS/Frigates, yet China today is a bigger maritime commercial nation than the USA in every respect.

Royal Navy in 1991 had 12 x DDG and 38 x frigates total 50

By 2008 it was half down to 25

Future will be 6 + 13= 19

China has 6 x Type 052C and 13 x Type 052D

Matches RN With just 2 classes of DDG you can forget adding in Type 055 etc

For number clear same for submarines... ! but all combattants are of 1st rank the Amazon, Leander was less capable.

China have end 1980's about 20 Luda/051 and IIRC one other class with some for MSC also more big number of submarines SSK than now about 70 vs now about 55, new ships are also more expensive...
Same for fighters, tanks the numbers also decreased ofc much less than in Europe, the reasons are different, for one other topic.
