I might be wrong, but looking at the photos, it looks like the construction site is waiting for something.

Any updated estimate as to launch date?
Shandong took about 25~26 months from first sighted in drydock to launch. First block was placed in drydock roughly around February last year for Type 004. For reference, average time from laid down to launch for USN CVNs is also 2 years and a few months give or take. So we can probably expect 004 in the water some time second quarter next year. I'd wager certainly by August 1st.

004 is far larger, far more sophisticated, and far more of a cleansheet design compared to 002. Not a great comparison.

Yankee and co. previously mentioned the idea of having it floated out for the centennial, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen, but they also added that an abnormally long fitting-out would probably follow.
