I don't know about the "much faster progress" than 003 comment either. To me, progress seems roughly similar. 004 has been in the dock for almost 10 months. During the same time since 003 was first spotted, we also had very large blocks assembled. Perhaps shorter in length, but taller in height. So it's not an easy comparison, as building methods are different. But surely "much faster" is not the term I would use.

Well, given that 004 is by all accounts a more ambitious cleansheet design as well as a larger hull with nuclear reactors, progressing at the same pace as 003 is quite good.

Since the bow and stern sections can be seen in the yard... Using CVN-78 as a benchmark for its similar structure, the hull reached the same construction milestones in roughly 10 months that took the JRF about 18 months in dry dock.

Having the hull ready by 2027 is highly probable,. The real wait will be the nuclear side—fueling and testing the reactor could take quite some time.
