Okay guys, more details.

As I said, I saved the money the whole time I was sick and in Houston being operated on and going through radiation...and since I have gotten back.

Now, last night I bought it, the 1/350 scale Resin Model kit of the USS Harper's Ferrry, LSD-49, langin ship dock.

Displacement: 19,600
Length: 609 Ft.
Beam: 84 ft.
Draft: 19.5 ft.

Armed with:

2 × RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) launchers
2 × 25 mm Mk 38 cannons
2 × 20 mm Phalanx CIWS mounts
6 × .50 caliber M2HB machine guns

She can carry two LCAC or two LCUs or one of each, and up to 500 US Marines and their equipment.

Hello everyone. My lovely bride and I are about to reach an anniversary with a zero at the end. After some health issues and saving some money (much valued US dollars) we are going to take a short trip to Holland and neighboring Germany. I was wondering if any of your European SDF members (or members that have been in this area) can recommend any interesting sites that are not in the normal tour books. Unfortunately, I don’t think Mrs. Mirage will be interested in visiting military museums.

Thanks

LOL, I think only Mrs. Jeff visits military museums, though my wife and girls told me about the German U-boat at the Chicago Field museum, Mollie and Baxie both scored well on the submarines fire control center. Sadly I have yet to see it?? LOL

I need to visit the Air Force Museum in Dayton, or maybe better the Smithsonian Institute, LOL
Have fun Guillermo, and congratualations on your anniversary, I see you prolly robbed the cradle as did I.??

I was holidaying in Spain /Germany September last year, while driving from Berlin to Frankfurt I stopped at the Nurburgring, hired a sports car and raced around the track there. It was fun.

Well, I lived two years in Germany in the 1970s, and then after being married for 13 years, in 1988, took my wife there for three weeks.

If you get a chance to get into the southern part of Germany I would recommend seeing the Black Forest and stopping in small towns therein and looking at the Clocks (CucKoo clocks) many craftsmen still build them there by hand. We still have the one we bough (now 28 years later and it is a favorite with our grandkids.

Also, see Neuschwanstein Castle and take a tour of it, and then if you can get down their see Königssee. Unbelievably beautiful country-side and the people in the country side were very friendly.

Also, stop and stay at the Bed and Breakfast places, A lot cheaper and the food was always great.
