Hey Jeff are you still doing any more models?
Yes...working on one now. The US The Sullivans, DDG-68, a Flight I Burke.

Named fr the Sullivan brothers who were all five killed at the same time when their cruiser, the USS Juneau as sunk of Guadalcanal.

They had all inisisted on serving toghter...and they all died together. The mother feinted when word arrived.

We named a Fletcher Class DD after them early the next year that served from 1943 until 1977. Now we have a Burke DDG Named for them.

Here's where she at as of end of today:

My next next will be this...to complete my ARG:

Harpers-03.jpg

Harpers-07.jpg

She will go with these two I have already built so I will have an LHD, an LPD, and that new LSD to complete the ARG!

Colonel
Hey guys, if you have a mind to do so, take a look at my latest model build/completion. The USS The Sullivans, DDG-68, a Flight I, Burke AEGIS destroyer:

Here are a few of other pics (lots more, 60, on the thread):

That's an awesome build!

Jeff, you should line ALL your naval vessels of all nations together into formation and take some photos. Your armada should allow you to take over the world!

Hehehe...in 1/350 scale!

I just went ahead tonight and got another model I have been salivating over. The:

1/350 Orange Hobby USS Harpers Ferry LSD-49

It was all I needed to complete a complete ARG in 1/350 scale.

I have the

USS Iwo Jima LHD-7

USS New York, LPD-21

will now have the USS Harper's Ferry, LSD-49

...and for their escorts I have

1 x Ticonderoga AEGIS cruiser

2 x Burke class AEGIS destroyers

2 x Independence Class LCS

1 x LA Class SSN

When a 1/350 scale USS Zumwlt comes out, I will add it to this ARG.

All of those others already look good together, but the true ARG requires an LHD/LHA, an LPD, and a LAD. Now I'll have the whole thing.

Hehehe...it will indeed go well with my complete 1/350 scale US Navy Carrier Strike Group (CSG) where I have:

1 x USS Enterprise, CVN-65
2 x AEGIS Cruisers
2 x Burke AEGIS destroyers
2 x Freedom class LCS
1 x USS Texas, SSN-75 (Virginia Class SSN)

The only problem I am having is running out of room! In addition to those, I have complete CSGs now for:

Russia centered on the 1/350 scale Kuznetsov
China centered on the 1/350 scale LIaoning
The UK centered on the 1/350 scale Illustrios
The French centered on the 1/400 scale Charles de Gaulle
Japan (Using the 1/30 scale Hyuga, DDH-181)

One day, when the models are avaiable, I will replace some of them.

The US with the 1/350 scale USS Enterprise, CVN-81, when it comes out in 1/350 scale.

The UK with the HMS Queen Elizabeth carrier when that model comes out in 1/350 scale.

China with their 002 CATOBAR carrier when it comes out in 1/350 scale...but that will eb quite a while.

Japan with the JS IZumo, DDH-184, when it comes out in 1/350 scale.

I built the Argetnian Sao Paulo, A12, but have no 1/350 scale escorts for it!

Oh well...enough of my plans and rambling.

Okay guys, more details.

As I said, I saved the money the whole time I was sick and in Houston being operated on and going through radiation...and since I have gotten back.

Now, last night I bought it, the 1/350 scale Resin Model kit of the USS Harper's Ferrry, LSD-49, langin ship dock.

Displacement: 19,600
Length: 609 Ft.
Beam: 84 ft.
Draft: 19.5 ft.

Armed with:

2 × RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) launchers
2 × 25 mm Mk 38 cannons
2 × 20 mm Phalanx CIWS mounts
6 × .50 caliber M2HB machine guns

She can carry two LCAC or two LCUs or one of each, and up to 500 US Marines and their equipment.

The four ships in her class are a slight improvement over the Whidbey class LSDs, of which there are eight. They look almost identical from the outside.

she will be the last of the vessels I need for my full 1/350 scale Amphibious Ready Group which will consist of the:

USS Iwo Jima, LHD-7 (Wasp Class LHD)
USS New York, LPD-21 (San Antonio Class LPD)
USS Harper's Ferry, LPD-49

Their escort and support ships, all of which I have already built consist of

1 x Ticonderoga class AEHGIS cruiser
2 x Arleigh Burke class AEGIS destroyers
2 x Independence class LCS
1 x Iowa Class battleship which I will replace with USS Zumwalt when a 1/350 model of her exists.
1 x LA Class SSN

This is a VERY detailed vessel and should take me several months of after work and weekends to finish. I will have a thread about it.

I will add several helos on deck and at least one or two LCAC/LCU models to her well deck. May ligh up that well deck too.

Here's how the model pictures look from the box:
