Whats your opinion on the above article Popeye

I'm just happy I live in the USA. What nonsense.

I guess in some circles in Africa I would be "coloured"..because my mom is 3/4 white and my dad was 1/4 Native American. So what does that make me in America? Just a second.. Let me look in the mirror. I'm African-American...And after reading that article I'll call myself Black.

I'd like to see voting on the weekend in general elections. However in the US there is a way around Tuesday elections. It's called absentee voting.

Yeah, I know we have that too. But in the UK at least there have been lots of concerns over that being abused by fraud. The more you make it available the more chances there are with people manipulating things, especially in Muslim communities - there have been a number of scandals, especially with the Labour Party.

Id have to agree with Mr T. WE just had elections this weekend in NZ.. Prior to the elections we have had accusations that the Asian vote was being manipulated in a certain electorate in special and early votes. This happens when the older Asians who cant read English get told on how and who to vote 4. In NZ. a person only has to have resided in the country legally that is legitimate residency, to vote.(Doesn't have to be a citizen).
This also causes some resentment because alot of Asians come over here to study and provided they graduate and meet certain conditions they can stay. Some eventually are allowed to bring out their elderly parents who are then allowed to vote in due course. Of course they will tend to vote Labour which is the equivilent of the Democrats in America.

absentee voting can sometimes be more trouble than its worth. I know at least for my state, voting absentee requires you to provide a reason for not going to the poll, and missing work or school is not acceptable.

They say absentee voting is less likely to be contested like what was seen in Florida 2000. I chose it because my polling place was primitive and if someone wanted to, they could file a lawsuit to toss out those votes taken there. After 2000 there were stories on the news of people complaining that ballot boxes were left unattended and could've been tampered with. Those were locked metal boxes. At my polling place as far as I can remember until recently, it was a beat-up cardboard box with only the flaps of the lids folded over the other and a cardboard knife slit on top to slip your ballot through. So I only laughed hearing all these people complaining about the petty problems at their voting places.
