075 LHD thread

Hang on tight, gentlemen. This is the Type 075 in the making, or so they claim. The text on the gantry cranes confirms it to be HDZH, Jiangnan.

By this point, I'd suggest giving the 075 its own dedicated thread to better keep track of its development.

If that large hole is meant to be a well deck, it is definitely NOT the right shape for it; it should not be a rounded rectangle. I seriously doubt this is a 075; if it is, that hole does not represent the hangar but some other part of the ship. I do see what could be helicopter hangar above it, however.

As always, I leave photographic evidence to your interpretations. No one knows for sure just what this is supposed to be, because it's the first picture claiming to be the 075 and we have very little information to go on aside from grasping at straws. Still, I think it's a start.

The text on the crane actually says JiangNanChangXing, or JNCX. It's not HDZH.

Thanks for correcting. I thought it was Jiangnan at first but the CSSC logo threw me off. Then again, all shipyards under the conglomerate have the same logo so that's just a brain fart on my part.

There is a post from cjdby pointing out that photo was from 2012

However, another poster stated that Hudong shipyard does have a drydock in Changxing site. But only for civilian ships. The picture above must be the one.

Thanks for pointing this out, and I apologise for the false information. Usually I forward information if the consensus seems positive enough, and in this case the image was clearly false.

A couple of points he notes:
  • Last time the PLAN commander went to visit a shipyard, it was to oversee the beginning of Type 901 AOE at GSI.
  • The first Type 054B should be getting close to keel-laying at HP.
  • Work on the LHD's steel plates and modules should have already gone on for around 4 months.
  • Photos of the ship will be hard to come by for this year, unless there are official releases or satellite images.
  • The displacement will be in the 30k tonne region.
  • The appearance of the island will resemble the superstructure of the Type 054A.
These points indicate that this

is quite accurate.

hearing it from fzgfzy definitely adds credibility.

Given his pattern of describing displacement, I imagine 30k ton region would be standard displacement rather than full.

Which mean by 4th quarter this year, satellite images of the new LHD hull should begin to become available.

Definitely possible, but considering we don't yet know which exact dry dock it will be built in (different to 001A, which we all knew would be built in the same drydock Liaoning was refitted in), it will likely be a bit longer than that until we have positive confirmation.

that said, I expect we will get some blurry, highly self censored pics of initial modules from someone like fzgfzy by the end of this year saying it is for 075.
