But surely the fact that this Admiral simply visited the ship yeard is not reason oto believe that it has to be the LHD/LHA that has to be being built?

Perhaps it is another ship?

The continued rumors of the large LHD/LHA have become like some of the other stories. Always whispers and rumors, but never any real substance.

If they build such a class, one day we will see it taking shape in a yard, like we have with the second carrier, and the Type 071s.

Lol, there are always whispers and rumours until they become real.

It's just the way PLA watching is. Eventually the rumours begin to accumulate in a timely fashion where it becomes virtually confirmed that a certain ship or project is real.

I still remember back in 2015 when pictures of initial modules of 001A were sighted at DL, and all the big shrimps and rumours were definitive that it was the carrier, but lots of people here were dubious and weren't convinced it was a carrier until like 2016.
Rumours are important folks, without it, SDF would be just another forum of people without any real ability to predict things.

Btw, this isn't just "some admiral" -- Vice Admiral Shen Jinlong is the Commander of the Chinese Navy, recently taking over the job from Admiral Wu Shengli. The equivalent of the USN's CNO.

His presence is the very opposite of inconsequential.


As for the 075 LHD itself -- we've known for a while that construction was either imminent or had already begun. The reason why Shen Jinlong visiting HDZH makes one consider whether it may be for 075, is because we know that HDZH is the shipyard that will build 075, and we know the only other navy ships of note that they are building is 071s and 054As.

It is possible he is visiting just part of an inspection or visit to the shipyard itself, or inspecting an 071 or 054A under construction, but considering the gravity of his presence and considering it is virtually confirmed that HDZH will be building/is building the 075, well it lends some quite plausible speculation to think that his visit may be related to 075.

But I also believe it will be ultimately confirmed through sightigs like we have had at the other places too.

And as part of that waiting, it means collecting all potentially relevant rumours and putting it in context of known existing information... and that includes this latest piece of news from the PLAN commander's visit.

In other words, I think this visit most definitely could be a signal.

Well...since it is a yard that builds numerous PLAN assetts, I will not count ths visit as a more sure signal to me of the LHA/LHD.

I do believe we already have enough info to give a good probability regarding the LHD/LHA, and that this does not add that much more fro my perspective.

To me, the next signal...and quite frankly given the amount of chatter and how long it has been going on...it is something I would have already expected...but the thing I am waiting on now is some actual construction pics.

In the mean time are there any rumours about the next ship in DL after 001A is floated out? It won't be a merchant vessel at this stage of the World economy.

I'd feel more confident about that picture if it was someone like fzgfzy making the claim.

Is the poster suggesting the thing with what looks like a well deck is meant to be 075? I find that a bit unlikely given its dimensions and proportions doesn't seem that right for a LHD. A bit narrow and the "well deck" cross section doesn't look right either.

Unless the poster is talking about one of the other general modules, in which case they could definitely be anything.
