when Japan's trade deficit plunged to a record level despite the arrival of Abe (or perhaps due to: after all, the nationalist regime's territorial squabble with China has been a primary reason why Chinese imports from Japan has imploded), the primary reason for crushing the Yen: unleashing exports (or boosting the current account surplus for that matter), has so far been a complete disaster.

And as a final thought experiment corollary: perhaps the reason why Japan has been so belligerent when it comes to the Senkakus/Diaoyu islands is because the administration knows that relinquishing control of the

field would force the country to revert back to its deflationary path in a world in which it is forced to rely on external, and very rapidly inflating in price, sources of energy.

Japan & China are not going to back down any time soon.
Interesting times.

For example, plawolf's assertion that China's leaders and people have an almost divine level of patience, wisdom, and foresight that eclipses all other leaders in human history. This is exactly the kind of smugness I was warning against.

Prove him wrong. I don't see another civilisation that has lasted NEARLY as long as the Chinese civilisation.

For what you called "an almost divine level of patience, wisdom, and foresight that eclipses all other leaders in human history", I just call it common sense. After all, if so many people here can understand the idea of waiting for a better time to end the dispute in order to get more favorable outcome, it must not be that complicated.

Also, waiting doesn't mean doing nothing, nobody here suggested China to do nothing, and China isn't doing nothing. China is reacting appropriately to maintain the disputed status of the DYT. This is what it needs to do so that Japan cannot easily claim ownership with undisputed de facto control. If this can be maintained then there's no need to rush for endgame. What China is not doing for now is pushing for endgame by directly sending people onto the island. I also believe China should make things equally hard for Japan to send people onto the island, now that it is better equipped to do so. In the long run, as far as I know, nobody here said China should never send people to the island, or forcefully achieve unilateral control. It's just that the time they see this happening may be different from the time you want it to happen. If you want to suggest that Chinese leadership will forget to repel Japanese control of DYT when they have enough power to assertively and cost-effectively do so, then you're actually assuming Chinese leadership has less wisdom and foresight than a forum goer.

What everyone interesting in is when will both side man each other up and finally go to war.
I hope, never! After the reunification of China and Korea Japan's position might well be so weak that a diplomatic solution can be found.

Your Average lifespan is the same as anyone elses, with changes measured in decades rather than centuries...

I consider ethnocentrism and race/country based assertions of character/genetic superiority to the individual repugnant to the extreme, and a direct reflection on the character of those who claim it.

Open a new topic if you want to bandy this stuff around, because I don't like seeing it here, and I doubt anyone else does either.

You should really learn how to respond to multiple points without resorting to multiple posts.

The funny thing is, you didn't even know that I was "accusing" you. :) But seriously, I find it very distateful when people post out of irrational passion rather than cold, hard reason. When you cloud your judgment with emotion, you lose sight of the big picture and start making bad decisions. Like throwing your advantage away and trying to forcibly retake DYT, or deludedly believing that Japan and the US are too scared to respond to a Chinese incursion of DYT.

I like it this way, gives the audience a chance to respond accordingly to each subject matter. If I have done it in multiple points it would've been a one long useless chants.

You're the one being dramatic about it and using words to describe and misrepresent what I'm trying to say. I understand if you don't have anything smart to say, than don't say anything at all.

IF you agreed the DYY island belongs to China, why not let China have control of their territory? Why is Japan illegally keeping control of this land? What is there gain by holding on to it?

Stop avoiding the subject. The subject is you calling me a China "hater" and claiming that I "defamed" China. Please go back in line and find some backup for these accusations, or please stop talking.

Now you know how it feels. The subject is also about you calling me or anyone thinks like me a "warmonger". Please don't copy my come backs, go innovate your own, because that's weak.

We were talking about other nations siding against China in a DYT dispute against Japan. What kind of vague, spineless term is "violating Chinese sovereignty", and which smaller nation around China is going to do that, whatever the hell that means? 'Siding' with Japan can take many forms without resorting to actual military force, which none of these nations would attempt against China anyway, so your latest straw man argument is moot to begin with.

Other nations government or their people, there's a big difference? Other nations are also siding against Japan with their island disputes as well, so the concept of the issue is all the same. The DYT is between China and Japan ONLY, and no one else. Japan wants to bring others politically to side with her because they know they will lose one on one with China. To me that's cowardice and irresponsible. So, what do you have to say besides belittling others to make you feel better?

I wasn't even responding to you here, unless your name is Schumacher. Knock, knock, time to wake up.

This is a free forum where I can respond to any comments as I wish, so you're against freedom of speech or the opinions of others?
